Dirty Water Dawgs | |||||

What: Carbon, Kaydin and Cir-El meat up on the streets while the two guys are enjoying some of Ney York's finest hot dogs. |
A blue blur comes from the west, blue-white lightning arcing about the blue as it moves at hypersonic speeds. He pants as he approaches a nearby hot dog vendor. "I will take ten hotdogs if you got em." He says as he watches the man. "And ketchup."
The Dirty Water Dog is a strange and elusively delicious specimen of the tube-meat variety and Freeman (aka Carbon) has been told that this street has best vendor this side of town. The giant mutant had his wallet in hand, all ready t step up to the vender when the blue woosh appears and he staggers back a foot. "O-Oh geeze." he breathes, then recognizes said blur, now resolved to perfect clarity. "Hey there, d-dude." he says, his usually meek demeanor perking up somewhat.
Cir-El spends part of each day patrolling. Granted, she has super hearing, which is of great help in finding emergencies, but patrols are useful. She is just leaping by when she spots a pair of costumed figures below. they do not seem to be causing trouble, but one needs to check out any gathering of costumes, just in case.
"Hey Freeman, just the man I want to see." Kaydin says with a big grin on his face, and he leans up to him. "I just circled the world. The /entire/ world. Took-" He says as he looks to a watch. "Thirty minutes and change." He says as he looks up to see the woman. "Well Hello beautiful!" He calls up to Cir-el with a wolf whistle.
Carbon raises one of his a hairless brows for a moment, looking quizzically at his diminutive (to him) friend. "The /whole/ w-world?" he asks, looking a bit skeptical.. "You d-do know the speed required to maintain t-traction on water without sinking, right?" But then he grins, showing he is teasing Kaydin.. And blinks once as the speedster look up, past him.. He follows the gaze and just.. stares.. Since he has never seen a flying person in real life before.. Only on TV.
Superlass drops down from the skies, she is not using her rocket flight, as she needs a lot more practice at that before using it anywhere breakable. Her long leaps, however, are easily confused for flying.
She realizes, as she lands, that the second one is not really wearing a costume. Rather, he appears to be naturally large with a very unusual skin. The one in blue decides to immediately hit on her, which is somewhat better than hitting her she supposes.
She says, "Thirty minutes to circle the Earth should actually fling him free of Earth's gravity. It is a rather interesting feat, implying that either he is able to fly to keep him down, or that he is adjusting something so that gravity works differently for him than other people."
"Hey the flash does it all the time doesn't he?" Kaydin asks as he watches her and nods. "Judging from your S on your chest, you must be one of the super people? Superbabe?" He asks playfully. Once the hotdogs are given to him he goes about eating ravenously, as if starving.
Carbon blinks again at the young woman "Y-You're Super-lass!" he blurts, and his face turning darker as he blushes. Apparently teh gaint is somewhat shy. Trying not to look like some fanboy quickly looks away and at his friend and nods, seemingly agreeing with the Heroine's assessment. "S-She is right.. Even without being aerodynamic running that f-fast would toss you out of the g-gravity well. I w-wonder if your p-power automatically anchors you to surfaces.. I a-always wondered about ThE flash.. Maybe y-you both have some sort of..." he trails off, realizes he is starting to sound geeky. "S-sorry.. I sometimes get c-carried away." he says quietly then gives Kaydin a painful look as the speedster hits on her. "Dude... R-Really?" he asks, plaintively.
She bows to the others, "Superlass at your service. Actually, that name is fairly new to me, I was simply Cir-El the first two weeks I was here. Unlike the last universe I was in, the name Supergirl was already in use when I got here." Actually, she is not that great at physics, but she can add and remembers that escape velocity is only 25,000 miles an hour.
"When I run I see this blue-white lightning which surges about me. Anything I do fast causes it to surge over me." He says as he moves between the two, rapid speed. If they blink they will miss it but as he runs a longer distance, blue-white lightning does surge about him before he returns back to him. He then chuckles at Carbon. "Hey, it may work." He says in his defense and he shrugs. "I don't know how my powers work. I just know I now go fast when I run."
Carbon does give her an odd look when she mentions "last Universe", filing that away under some heading in his brain as something to look into.. Physics is one of his studies after all. "I L-like it.. Superlass, I mean. It's.. it's old school."
Carbon then look to and rolls his eyes at Kaydin, though it may be hard to tell since his are black and have no pupils. "Y-yeah.. Okay.. Sure." he quips, still looking a teeny bit embarrassed about how.. open.. his friend is. "The l-lightening is cool, though. Flashy.. U-uh.. no pun intended."
Fortunately, Cir-El possesses Kryptonian speed. While not as fast as this young speedster, she is only about one tenth as quick, she can at least see him. The energy that forms around him is still too quick to see directly though.
She shrugs (which might do interesting things to her chest she is well built for her age), "Well, for a long time I thought Superman was my father. Then there was the S on my original uniform. When it was suggested I should take a code name, something with an S was an obvious choice. Supergirl was taken though, and Superbabe has connotations about appearance, so I finally settled on superlass."
"Definitely worthy of being a superbabe though." Kaydin says with a grin before he nods, looking to Carbon. "I dont know. If I move at normal speed the lightning doesnt show up. When I move at full speed, then it does, no matter what I do. It doesnt seem to do anything, atleast anything harmful." He says as he shrugs. He then turns to Cir-el. "Wait you thought superman was your father? So he isn't? I thought the S meant your part of his family..."
Carbon, unlike his zippy friend, is much more... reserved. He listens to Cir-El's story, genuinely interested and seeming somewhat sympathetic but blushes a bit again when she shrugs and quickly averts his eyes just enough to not stare.. because he was raised to be a nice boy and nice boys don't ogle. "You're.. right." he admits. "And there a-are not many other choices t-to denote 'Female' that don't sound... you know.. s-sexist. Maybe Super-gal b-but.. that sounds like it is from an A-Archie comic." he admits.
He blushes even more as Kaydin continues his relentless flirting. "Were y-you this.. social.. before your powers?" he asks and then winces once and looks back to Cir-El. "I a-am sorry.. I'm being rude.. I'm F-Freeman.. but my friends s-sometimes call me Carbon.." he says by way of introduction then frowns and looks to the speedster. "U-uhm.. Should I introduce you with your real name? I-I'm not sure of the protocol here." the young giant admits.
Cir-El explains, "One of Superman's enemies from my world, Brainiac, created me. He cloned part of Superman's DNA and implanted it on a human host. Only enough of it to fool human DNA tests into thinking I was his daughter, not actually a full half set of Kryptonian genes. He also gave me memories of being Superman's Daughter. I suppose, genetically I am closer to Superman's Granddaughter. Superman gave me permission to use the name and costume."
"Yeah, I was this obnoxious before the speed." Kaydin said and he does ogle, only a little. He then coughs and turns a bit. "Well, I am Kaydin, but debating on going with the name Momentum. I want to do more to help out. Freeman here is going to be a biochemist some day. Real smart guy." He says, gesturing to him.
Carbon lights up a bit at Superman's mention and nods. "He sounds l-like such a cool guy.. I m-mean.. Not that you aren't cool.." he quickly reiterates, "B-because cause you are pretty awesome and he would have t-to think so too since he let you use the name and costume and..." Yeah, he started to ramble and winces slightly... He quickly looks to Kaydin, maybe switching track will make him look less an idiot! "H-How about.. Blueshift... That's a-actually a science term.. It's what a-an object moving closer and closer t-to the speed of light looks as it gets closer t-to you."
Cir-El says, "Well, nice meeting both of you. Hopefully we will meet again as friends. I should get back to my patrol." With that, she leaps into the sky.
Kaydin waves and when she jumps he hmms as he studies her. "That looked more like a jump then a fly..." He says, revealing that his studying of her wasn't just because he liked girls. He then turns to Carbon. "Have you ever considered parkour?" He asks the large mutant.
Carbon nods rather absently, eyes still looking up and in the direction where she had jumped.. sort of dazed.. He quickly shakes it off, blushing once more (he does that a LOT) and motions from where he leapt. "S-She flexed her legs.. Eve w-with he strength she w-wouldn't break the pavement because she is so light compared to it.. so m-most of tech force transferred back t-to her." he explains. Then he frowns. "Wait.. Wh-what? You mean l-like those guys in that m-move, District B13?"
"Like the videos I make." Kaydin says as he nods. "Yea I know a leap. Spent most of my life doing Parkour." He says as he eats his hotdogs. "So how goes the studies?" He says between bites.
Carbon looks a bit... well he doesn't seem to find the idea a good one. "I.. d-don't like heights.." he admits softly. "And.. I'm afraid I would be like a wrecking b-ball." He gets his hotdogs (finally), with mustard and sauerkraut and takes a bite.. the swallows. "T-They go well.. I mean.. it's my f-first semester and I am n-not used to University but.. They are f-fun. I usually g-gotta sit on the floor or steps, though."
"Hey, someday you will be the next Pym." Kaydin says as he pats the man and snickers at the look on his face and loses the snicker when he admits he isn't a fan of heights. "The trick with heights is to not let that fear overwhelm you." He says as if letting him in on a big secret. "First time I did parkour I was scared stiff. Sure I fell and got hurt a few times, but I never let it stop me." He tries to explain.
Carbon sighs and leans against the wall of the nearest building, polishing off two more hotdogs in only a few bites. "Y-Yeah but I'm.. like.. probably invulnerable.. S-so being scared of heights makes no sense. I-It's like my stutter.. T-there is n-no physical reason for it..: he shrugs, then smiles. "I'd b-be happy just working for D-Doctor Pym.. O-Oh.. H-here is something cool. I m-met Lex Luthor. He o-offered me an INTERNSHIP in t-two years if I k-keep my grades up."
"Guy who owns Lexcorp right?" Kaydin asks as he nods. "Well mental reasons are still just as powerful as physical ones and in truth, unless you spend a lot of time about heights, it will be very uncomfortable." He says as he finishes more of his own hotdogs.
Carbon smirks now. "Y-Yes.. the g-guy who owns Lexcorp. F-for someone who breathes the i-internet I would think you would know these people." he jests. Then he gives Kaydin the look. "A-And how many e-elevators you know that can get me to the top of a building.
"Your own two hands. Besides, you can use the stairs. Hell, probably able to climb the railings of the stairs with your size. Never trust elevators. Takes one bad day and they can really end bad." He says as he chuckles. Kaydin then takes a breath. "I spend my time running about the globe and climbing buildings. In fact I was debating on climbing the Lexcorp building, the thing is like one of the largest in the city."
Carbon Can see the Lexcorp building from here and nods as he studies it's sleek techolithic lines. "If I am by myself I could take an elevator.. But Then I get all loopy a-about small spaces.." yeah, he has some phobias. "Hmmmm... St-stairs? I never though about that.. A hundred stories... You could d-do that in, like, a second?"
"Yea I could. But the fun part is climbing it without super-speed. Man it has to be a great challenge." Kaydin says as he looks to the tower and grins. "It will be great. I will run up it a few times to study the building then climb it." He says to the large mutant.
Carbon squints. "Have you.. y-you know.. Just run u-up the side of a building?" he asks.
"Yes." Kaydin says as he looks to a nearby building. He looks to the baxter building and smirks as he runs in circles before running straight for. As Carbon watches, he runs up to the building and literally begins running up the side of it as if it was normal ground. The blue blur surges with blue-white lightning as it goes.
