| What: Kiden Leaves Mia in confusion | |||||
Kiden is leaning against the wall by the entrance to the Daily Bugle building, it tends to be a rather busy one, and so it offers occasional targets readily available. A cigarette is kept between her lips, she seems to be minding her business, though occasionally she leaves her station by the wall, 'accidentally' bumps into a suit and apologizes briefly, before getting out of the way.
Mia has been taking the train to Metropolis a lot lately. Actually, she had not used the train before to get to town, but right now, her other means of travel are less than safe. She pauses to look at the Daily Bugle building, stepping into an alley so as to be out of plain view before lowering her glasses. Her eyes, once the glasses are lowered, are glowing blue. Mia is practicing control, looking through to a specific depth...and seeing about turning the power on and off.
Kiden has gotten enough to last for the evening, and so she takes a break from actually bumping into people, and instead chills by the entrance to the building. One person mouths off at her that she looks too young to be smoking, so she lets out a puff of smoke in his face, causing him to yell at her but it doesn't escalate from there. "Sheesh, chill," she mutters after the man leaves.
There is a sudden stir as someone stops by the paper seller at the corner and discovers his wallet is empty of money. Not missing, just empty. For some reason, he seems more upset by that than he would be is the whole wallet were gone, shouting about being robbed. Perhaps it is the thought that someone had to remove he wallet and then return it after relieving it of money.
Mia starts concentrating, trying to look only through the first layer of clothing and see if she sees anything suspicious.
Kiden doesn't seem to be aware of any issues, smoking her cigarette while leaning on the Bugle's Building wall, if Mia would happen to look her way, she does have some bills in the pocket of her jacket, but then that doesn't necessarily mean anything. It's up to Mia to decide for herself.
Mia keeps failing, looking entirely through people, and sometimes through the walls beyond. She realizes that outrage seems to be spreading, as multiple people check their wallets and find their cash missing. She slips her glasses on, lest someone notice her eyes are glowing, and surveys the scene with her glasses-limited vision.
Kiden looks outright confused when outrage spreads, people don't normally check their wallets randomly on the street for no reason. Today must have been a bad karma day or something, it's a sure enough cue for Kiden to take a hike, and so she's not there anymore. One second she was, the next she isn't.
Mia was searching the crowd, trying to hear something that would give her a clue what was going on. She hears nothing...literally. Something is there one moment and then gone the next, the sounds of heartbeat and breathing and other minor body sounds that indicate a person just vanish. She glances to where that person's sounds were...and moves over there quickly enough to spot a vanishing trace of smoke. She studies the scene with a frown.
