JARVIS
Where: Avengers HQ - Stark Tower
When: November 29, 2015
Tone: Social
What: Jean Grey returns to Stark Tower for the first time since the Phoenix debacle, and is welcomed by Pepper, Steve Rogers, and Ben Grimm

It has been some time since Jean has been to Stark Towers, yet after seeing Thor and expressing her concerns she has decided to see if her Avenger's card will still allow her access. Jean is in her X-Men uniform at this moment flying through the clouds as she makes her way into New York City. Her hair is down and flowing around her as she floats down through the clouds to the top of the beacon. She floats their her hands folded behind her back as she begins to float around the Tower's edge.

The cross breeze causing her hair to come into her face now and again as she looks into the windows as if unsure to go in. However, she is not hiding the fact she is there. She pauses when she sees people inside...She floats a bit closer to the window.

Jarvis speaks through the com-system, "We have a visitor. One who we have not seen in some time. Dr. Jeam Grey is outside."

~

Would anyone be surprised to see Pepper in her office and working on a holiday weekend? If you are, then you've not spent any real time around her. When JARVIS speaks up, Pepper looks up from her glass desk surface / giant touchscreen interface and then toward her window. "Dr. Grey is here? See her in JARVIS, and let her know I'll be right up."

"Yes, Miss Potts." Pepper locks her computer/desk and moves to stand, stepping back into her casual, moccasin-like slippers and scooping up her bag to head out of her office. No business professional attire today, sorry. Just a really slouchy grey sweater over jeans and a black shirt with red-printed letters reading, "I want pie. Get me some pie."

~

For his part, Ben has not been to the Avenger's tower, very much as of late either, but for reasons far less Dramatic that Ms. Grey's. With Reed neck deep in SCIENCE and Sue busy running the philantrophic side of the Fantastic Fours endeavors, and Johnny of doing... whatever it is that Johnny does. Ben's needed something to do. His recent joining of the Avenger's gave some brass the bright idea that they'd just reactive his USAF comission and trasnfer him to S.H.I.E.L.D. formerly working with them when he's not on a mission with the Avengers or the FF these days. Truth be told, he kinda likes driving the bus.

He is at the Tower today, though, he just dropped of a newer model of the Quinjet that he just took for test flight for Tony, and is about to Pepper's office to give the report when JARVIS tells them they have a visitor, He's about to wrap on her door when she is coming out on her way up, "I was just comin' to give you that flight report Pepper,... er Ms. Potts, but it can wait until after we greet Red." he says clearing his throat and trying to sound professional and like he doesn't play poker with these people on Friday nights because he's on duty.

~

Steve honestly spends a lot of his time with SHIELD right now...or training Avengers candidates. But that doesn't mean he's never around the tower. He might not have managed to track Tony down, but there's always Pepper. "Jarvis, which window is she outside?" he inquires. He's in the Avengers gym, and wearing sweats, but he picks up his shield as he heads for the door. Just in case.

~

"Dr. Grey is outside the Med Lab window. I am opening it now." Jarvis says over the com-system.

~

"Welcome back Dr. Grey. It has been some time since we have seen you." The window begins to open by itself and Jean cocks an eyebrow. She floats a bit closer to the window but does not enter. She blinks and says, "Ummm thank you. And you are?" She looks left and right not seeing anyone and tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

Pepper Potts smiles at Ben and leads the way to where JARVIS is already greeting Jean and inviting her inside. "Ben, you know you don't have to stand on formalities around me, right? Especially on a weekend. I'll happily accept the report later, though I'm really only interested in knowing if the seats for passengers have finally been modified so I don't feel like I'm strapped into a 1950s space module." She leads him to the specially modified elevator built to handle larger-statured people (it's sturdy enough to handle Hulk on a rampage) and they're on the Med Lab floor in moments.

~

Captain America nods to empty air and heads to the medical bay. He steps out of one of the more...normally-sized...elevators probably about when Pepper and Ben do.

~

"Sorry, I'm just trying to get back ta protocol and all. I've been used to bein' all informal for a while now." He nods to Steve then as he steps off an adjacent elevator. Almost reflexively, he steps in front of the group and enters the Med Bay first, just incase Jeannie is all, y' know... Phoenixy (he read the file of the assault on the Sentinel program.) "Hey Red, It's good to see ya again. We missed you around here."

As she begins to sense the minds coming towards the Med Lab, Jean floats slightly backwards and cocks her head to the side when her eyes come upon those entering. She looks between them and says with an soft smile, "Ummm. Hi." She looks at Pepper and says, "Ahhh you must be Ms. Potts. Thor mentions that I might see another red head." She asks motioning to the window, "May I come in? I mean no harm." When Ben greets her she hmmms, "I'm sorry. I don't know you...a long story." Her eyes move to Steve and she nods, "And you must be Captain America. By build and demeanor."

~

Pepper Potts offers Jean a smile and rather fearlessly steps past Ben toward where the other redhead is still hovering outside. Offering a handshake, she says, "Please do come in, and welcome to Stark Tower. And please, call me Pepper. This is Ben Grimm, and Steve Rogers."

~

Captain America steps around Ben once it appears clear that Jean is not about to get all Phoenix. The shield, of course, is an even more obvious giveaway. "Welcome back, Jean Grey." Doesn't know him? That might explain her absence...memory issues are perhaps not surprising when one's mind has been messed with, after all.

~

"Sorry.. we've only met a few times. It ain't surprisin' you don't remember." I mean if there's anyone that probably has met enough Rock men for them to all look the same, Jean is probably one of them. He stands to one side, so Cap and Pepper can talk to Jean as they probably know more about what's going on around here. "But whether you remember us or not, yer among friends."

~

As she floats a bit closer to Pepper, Jean shakes her hand and says, "Thank you." She releases the woman's hand and floats up and over her into the room. She lands elegantly on the floor and turns to look at the three. "I am sorry I have not been present in some time. I do not remember the entire situation. Wolverine informed me that we worked as a team to stop attacks on mutants and that my bulwarks broke under the stress of an attack against a Master Sentinal. The Phoenix took me. Thor informed me that you guys searched for me in space and that I battled against him as the Phoenix Force." She sighs softly, "I am sorry I don't remember. I was told that I was being controlled by a being named Thanos under a powerful gem. A thing called an Infinity Stone. It was only when the Phoenix and I worked together that we broke free. However it was at a cost. I have no memories. I have had some things filled in by Professor X. However I am still re-learning alot."

"The biggest being that my powers have been enchanced and doing my best to keep them under control so I don't punch a hole in a mountain or hear person within a 500 mile radius."

~

Pepper Potts turns to follow Jean, letting JARVIS take care of closing the window. Please. It's getting really cold in here. She pulls her sweater a little more tightly around herself as the window closes (thank you, JARVIS), she offers Steve a small smile hello before returning her attention to Jean again, adding Thanos' name to a mental list of people she'd really enjoy apologizing to her. You don't mess with Pepper's friends without suffering repercussions.

"Well, welcome back, then. Would you like the ten cent tour, or the chance to just wander about and explore on your own? JARVIS, please reinstate all of Dr. Grey's access levels."

~

Captain America nods. "I assume you've been getting some help with that?" Steve knows enough to know the X-Men have excellent power trainers. He steps forward, the shield now in his left hand so he can offer Jean his right. Not too worried, apparently, about her reading *his* mind.

~

Ben Grimm draws a deep breath, "Wow... that's... That's about 5 pounds of horrible stuffed into a 3 pound bag kid. I'm sorry that happened to you." Ben says with a frown, "Do you know anything about this Thanos other than he was controlling you?"

~

As she looks between the three, "Thank you. I have been getting a good handle on it. It's mostly being able to keep my mind locked down now. I can sometimes relax too much still. The Professor says I had a muscle I was using for years. It had become natural...so I will have to work at it again. It will come in time." Jean looks around the med lab and smiles, "Nice lab you have. I guess I have a PHd and some of these things come naturally but others I am relearning." She chuckles softly as she looks up and asks, "JARVIS? Ahhh the elegant man with the voice. An A.I?" She nods clearly impressed, "I have been talking with the Professor and he feels I should keep my committment with the Avengers still. I was told that joining your team has helped put a good light on mutants. Even with the heighten level of attacks recently. I would like to still help keep us in any good light that I can. Just my powers are still a thing to get use too. From what I understand I was strong but now I am...really strong." She does not sound like she is boasting but is more...disappointed with it.

~

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance again, Dr. Grey," the aforementioned AI's voice offers from the speakers embedded in the ceiling.

For her own part, Pepper just smiles in amusement. "Flattery will get you everywhere with JARVIS. But honestly, that's why he's here. Ask him for anything, he'll do his best to help you out." She looks at Ben and Steve again. "I'm just now realizing I missed lunch. Is anyone else hungry?"

~

"Am I ever not?" Steve quips, a bit of the light hearted nature he sometimes demonstrates showing through. "We could order something," Captain America adds, thoughtfully.

~

"It takes time when I first ended up like.." he looks down at himself, "Like this. It was months before I could pick something up or open a door without destroying it." He smiles just very briefly as he adds, "Even know I can only make scrambled eggs still..." he shakes his head, "But being around friends and family and teammates will help you with all that I'm sure. So if there's anything we can do, just let us know ok?"

But then, Pepper brings up food, and one thing Ben Grimm always is, is Hungry, "Oh man, I could go fer a bite Pepper, certainly!"

~

Jean Grey places a hand on her stomach and smiles a bit wider, "I wouldn't say no to a good piece of pie." Did Jean read her mind or just has pie on the mind since Thanksgiving has come and gone. She folds her hands behind her back before she says, "Lead the way. I kind of don't know where I am going."

~

Pepper Potts just smiles at everyone else and turns to lead the way. "We could order in, but really, I think I can make a decent enough sandwich on my own. And there is pie for //days//. I've never been that big a fan of pie, and this time of year it's just overload." She takes them up to the main Avengers' floor, where the communcal kitchen and lounge area waits. The TV is off, but the sound system is playing something NOT holiday related to provide a quiet background noise, and JARVIS speaks up again as Pepper steps into the kitchen proper. "Three pies are being brought up, Miss Potts. They will arrive shortly."

~

"Sandwiches and pie would be perfect. Thanks, Pepper." He follows her towards the kitchen, almost too obediently. Pepper, apparently, can get anyone to do what she says except possibly Tony.

~

"Thank you Pep. Sandwhich and Pie sounds perfect right about now." Unlike Pepper, Ben is a rather large fan of pie. Especially rhurbarb.

~

As she follows, Jean takes a moment to take in the new enviroment before she moves to sit down in one of the stools. She crosses her legs and folds her hands on her knees, "So...three pies. What will you all be having?" She smirks softly and tucks her red hair behind her ears before asking in a more serious tone, "So having been gone for nearly 6 months. I am sure I have missed some things? Anything important?"

~

Pepper Potts starts getting out the sandwich fixings as JARVIS pipes up at Jean's comment about the pies. "Dr. Grey, should you find the pie being delivered insufficient, I will have more brought up promptly."

Pepper's amusement is almost audible, and she gets the sandwich fixings all lined up like an efficient little assembly line. "All right. Who wants what?" And the choices are ... extensive. Three kinds of bread, four different kinds of cold cuts, easily a dozen different fresh vegetables, and all of the best condiments. And Miracle Whip. Yeah, don't know how that got in there.

~

"White bread, ham and cheese, a bit of mustard," Steve requests before setting the shield down against the end of a couch. Which has a slight dent in it right where the rim rests.

~

Ben Grimm scoffs at the mention of Miracle Whip, "That must be Banner's" He clears his throat, "I'll take a bit of everything on Rye?" Ben asks, almost cautiously as if not sure he can. "If that's ok that is.." he looks then to Steve and then to Jean and says, "As for what you missed... 6 months is like a lifetime in this gig... Cap can you think of anything major we need to make sure Red is up on?"

~

Jean Grey hmmms as she raises her hand, "I have been told I need to use my telekinesis as much as possible to get my dexterity down to what it use to be." She slides off the stool and asks, "May I make the sandwich's Ms. Potts?" She walks over to the counter and looks everything over before she waits to see if it is ok to get to work.

~

Pepper Potts ohs and steps aside for Jean with a smile. "Okay, this I have got to see." She picks her bag up from the floor near where she'd been standing and moves to take the seat Jean just vacated. Even if Jean weren't telepathic, Pepper's near-glee at getting to see the telekinesis in action is obvious. It's kind of like a child watching a sleight-of-hand magician for the first time.

The elevator chimes, and one of the building's security staff arrives carrying three pie-sized containers to set on the end of the counter.

"Thank you, Dmitri," Pepper tells the security guard as he smiles and waves and takes his leave again.

~

Ben Grimm rubs his hands together as he awaits his telekinesis assembled Sandwhich and pulls around a stool for Pepper to join him and Cap to watch the preparations. "Thank you Red, this is awefully kind of you." he looks between Steve and Pepper then and asks, "Telekinesis is kosher right?"

~

"I wouldn't know. I don't think it existed when they wrote the rules. So I think you can say yes, unless you want to call a rabbi right now." Steve grins at Ben, then considers. "I...there hasn't honestly been much that's major. Bludhaven's even more of a mess than usual, and I do have somebody...two people...I want to introduce to the team."

~

As she chuckles softly, Jean adds, "It's nothing special really." She takes a step backwards to get a clear view of the counter as she raises both hands to waist level. Her eyes going over the various things before her fingers begin to wiggle. The breads begin to open as two slices of white and rye bread begin to float outward. The packages reclose a pair of plates float before Jean as she smirks softly at Ben's comment. Her eyes moving to Dmitri and his linger thoughts for a moment. Jean lets out a chuckle before she continues with the sandwich making. The various meats begin to float out of their packages and roll into elegant deli like shapes as the settle onto the bread. Jean sets the plates down with a slightly louder clink and she wrinkles her nose before she lifts a tomato. She flicks her wrist and it instantly slices into perfectly shaped and even cut slices. They float down around Jean's hand before settling down on a second plate. The Whip lifts into the air and the cap spins off and flies off the top. Jean gasps as she grabs it in mid air before it gets away from her. The woman frowns slightly as she continues to make the sandwiches. The items floating around her with grace and elegance like a mystical sandwich conductor. She finishes them and the plats float to the boys before the three pies float before Jean and she licks her lips. "How big of a slice can I help you with Ms. Potts?"

~

Pepper Potts grins, then blinks and leans back a bit when the pies float in front of her. "Uh... " Oh thank god, JARVIS asked them to send up a cream pie. "How about an sixteenth of the Boston cream? Though I should probably eat something more substantial first." A salad sure wouldn't go wrong, but ... maybe a turkey on rye will be okay just this once.

~

Claiming his sandwich, Cap settles down on the end of the couch next to his shield. "Pepper, you burn it off almost as quickly as the rest of us," he points out. Rescue might not be seen in the field *that* often, but Pepper does train.

~

Tanks his sandwhich with one of everything on rye and smooshes it down so he can take a big, hearty bite. One of the few upsides of his transformation is that he burns so many calories that he could eat a bus and metabolize it. "It's delicious, thank you Red." He spies the floating pies then and weighs his options, "They all cream pies or we got some fruit here..."

~

As she nods slowly, Jean moves to make Pepper's sandwich, as the items fly with ease. She blushes softly as she makes the turkey on rye having heard surface thoughts. The turkey sandwich AND the pie a bit larger then request floats before the woman as she takes the apple pie and looks over at the fridge. She closes her eyes a moment and it opens and vanilla ice cream floats out as it begins to scoop itself out in pefect baseball sized scoops. She sets the down on the table for herself as she turns and raises her hands a bit higher into the air. Everything begins to float upward at once and Jean brings her hands to her temples as things begin to float to their prespective homes. As she opens her eyes a bit excited to get some of her pie, Jean loses her control on closing the cabinet doors and they all slam so hard they rip off their hinges and fall to the ground. Jean brings both hands to her mouth in surprise and lets out a, "Oh my god. I am so sorry. I can pay for that." The apples in her cheeks begin to darken a fewer shades of cherry.

~

"But I also spend as much time sitting in front of a computer as you spend hitting punching bags," Pepper tells Steve. Then, Jean's powers get a teeny bit out of hand. She starles when the doors slam and fall off of their hinges, stares wide-eyed for about two seconds, and then starts to laugh. Really laugh.

"Oh my god. That was awesome. And don't worry about those doors," she adds with a dismissive wave of her hand. "Hinges are nothing to replace. Steve did worse than that during one of his first visits to the tower. You remember that, right, Steve? The fridge door after Tony said something that riled you up?" She's very clearly amused.

~

"It could be worse. That could have been the food. Don't worry about it. Stuff around here gets broken." With this many superpowered individuals in one place, accidents are bound to happen. Steve doesn't seem too horribly concerned. "And...I didn't know fridges were so fragile!" A bit of a blush.

~

Ben Grimm nods, "You should see what I'm in ta Tony for the for the things I've broken." He looks to Steve, "Between the two of us, some cabinet doors are no big deal I'm sure. I think yer doing great." he holds up his sandwhich then and says, "The sandwhich is great by the way. Thank you."

~

Jean Grey is still blushing as the doors float into a pile in the corner as she moves to her dessert. She down and begins to eat as she says, "Sorry. At least I didnt blow a hole in the entire wall." She takes a bite of her pie and asks, "Who are these two people you wish to introduce Steve?"

~

Pepper Potts takes a bite of her sandwich, then stands and goes into the kitchen, returning a moment later with a glass bottle of Coca Cola for Steve, a Thor-tankard of milk for Ben, and then makes a second trip for water for herself and a glass of milk for Jean. She guessed on that last one.

~

"Friends," Steve says, simply. "Friends I thought lost...it's a long and complicated story. Pepper, I think you and Peggy will get on...to the point where I may just introduce you then head to the next county."

~

Ben Grimm blinks, "Peggy...." Ben makes a ohhhh sound as if he figures it out, "You mean Agent Carter? I've not met her yet, but I read the file... Well and I've heard her enabling Irish over the coms before."

~

Jean Grey cocks an eyebrow, "I am sorry I am not familair. I look forward to meeting her." She smiles and nods in thanks to Pepper for the milk. She takes a sip and asks, "And Bludhaven. I hear that is alot like Gotham. You said it has been pretty bad. Is there anything I can do to help?"

~

Captain America shakes his head. "That one's more a SHIELD matter than an Avengers matter." He frowns a little bit, though. "And yes, I do mean Peggy Carter." Maybe he'll arrange to be in Europe...

~

"I'm looking forward to getting a chance to meet her." Ben says, "She was a bit of legend back in my days working with Fury and BLack-Ops before..." he looks down at himself, "Well my accident, 'What would Carter do?' was a frequent mantra when things got ugly." He looks to steve and says, "What would Cap do was totally a mantra too! But generally everyone just knew you'd throw a shield, punch a nazi and/or facist and call it a day." He turns then to Pepper and takes his Asgardian horn sized mug of milk and says, "Thank you Pep, yer too good to us."

~

Jean Grey takes another bite of her pie as she listens intently, "Yes. The file I have read on you Steve tells me you are a soilder and quite skilled. You are above average physical skills, intelligence, and your leadership skills make you quite charismatic." She looks at Ben and sighs, "Sadly I have not read your file. Yet...you are a part of the Fantastic Four...right?"

~

Captain America nods, and then grins. "Pepper, jean, get ready to make another sandwich." He tugs out his starkphone and makes a phone call, murmuring into it quietly.

~

Ben Grimm takes a few great chugs from the mead horn filled with milk that Pepper has brought him. WHen he sets it back down he has a milk moustache that looks kinda rediculous, "I'm Benjamin J. Grimm." nothing, "Idol of Millions." still nothing, "The ever lovin' blue eyed Thing?" still more nothing, "Uh yeah..." he says admitting defeat, "I'm a member of the Fantastic Four, the Avenger's and recently newly minted Agent of SHIELD. WHich is good. I need something to keep me busy. We're close with Xavier though. Reed donates lots of 'unstable molecule' fabric so he can make clothes for the kids with more volitaile and unpredictable powers." He pauses then and says, "If you need help relearning your abilities and you need a schlep to throw around you don't have to worry so much about hurting, let me know."

~

Fate is strange sometimes, though Peg had been spending a fair amount of time in New York City as SHIELD allowed her -- there were places that still felt like her home in Manhattan. So, she'd been in the city handling a few things when the phone call came in. Not far in the least, Peg hailed down a cab and told Steven she was probably five minutes out. She certainly wasn't going to pass up a chance to finally see the headquarters of this SHIELD project she'd heard so much talk about.

~

As she nods slowly, Jean turns her eyes on the broken cabinets as the breads begin to float back out, the fridge opens and the meats float out, with all the fixings. She takes a bite of her pie and smiles to Ben's offer, "Thank you Ben. You seem to know me rather well. My friends usually call me Red. So we must have been friends. I am happy to have reconnected with you." She cocks an eyebrow at the idea of tossing him around, "I might take you up on the sparring offer. Yet I won't go full strength on you. I wouldn't want to hurt you."

~

Pepper Potts eats quietly for a few moments, letting the others chat. She HAD been hungry, after all. "Okay, I would love to see that too. We have a room Tony built specifically for people with powers to practice in without fear of busting through walls and the like." Probably a bit like Xavier's Danger Room, that Pepper actually has no clue about. She straightens up and peers across at Steve when he gets out his phone, her eyebrows rising to disappear under her bangs. "Dare I ask who you're inviting over, Steve?" And, does she need to rush back to her office and change into clothes that are more presentable?

~

"Agent Carter, as she seems to be free and everyone's so keen to meet her." Which is a little bit scary, but...well...they *do* seem to want to say hi to her.

~

"I'm sorry If I'm being too familiar.. I give everyone nicknames. We had met before, but we didn't know each other very well. I've always though highly of Chuck and all the kids at the school though. Even Runt." His affectionate name for Logan, "And don't worry too much 'bout hurting me. I'm made of pretty stern stuff." He cocks a thumb at Cap, "Ask him. He's seen how good I am at gettin hit in the face." He looks to STeven then and nods, "I am lookin forward to meetin' hear. Like I said, back in the day, she was a bit of legend when I was flying for black-ops."

~

It seems poor Pepper isn't going to get the time to change whether she likes it or not. Post-Thanksgiving traffic has died down and left Manhattan streets rather empty for a Sunday night. The few blocks in the cab took almost no time and JARVIS' voice echoes through the room at Peggy's approach to the front door. "One Margaret Carter is down stairs in the lobby. Shall I admit her?"

~

Jean Grey jumps slightly at Jarvis's voice as if she is gonna need a moment to get use to him and falls silent as she continues eating her pie.

~

Captain America adds, quietly, "Pepper, should I introduce you as Tony's assistant or..." He tails off, the implication clear. Jean doesn't really use a secret ID and Ben can't, but Pepper may or may not want Peggy to know she's Rescue.

~

Pepper Potts blinks at that. "Whatever works, Steve. I'm not picky." Even though she's currently SI's Chief Operations Officer. And, yeah. No time to change clothes. "Yes, please, JARVIS, and see if she'd like tea or coffee or a slice of pie." She abandons her sandwich again (almost like it's a habit) to get a teapot out of one of the now-exposed cupboards and prepare it for teamaking. There's already a fancy electric kettle nearby with near-boiling water ready and waiting.

~

Jean Grey hmms and says, "I need to use the ladies room. I think I see it just over there. I will be back in a moment."

~

It's part of what Ben like's about Pepper, she's not particular about titles. "So Cap, I don't know all the details, but.. how's she been adjusting?" And that's when he hears JARVIS' voice, "Oh I guess that's her. I guess we'll find out."

~

"Better than I did to start with," Steve admits, claiming a slice of apple pie now he's done with his sandwich, but not actually eating it yet.

~

Peggy Carter is still getting used to these high speed elevators, but by the time she's arrived, she's carefully tucked away any discomfort she might have felt at the entirely too quick whisking up to the high floor where present company rested. It's not the elevator that has surprised her, but the pure, clipped British voice asking her if she wanted tea. An entirely too familiar voice coming from the whole room around her. She'd been too stunned to answer, in truth. "...Mr. Jarvis? Is that Edwin Jarvis? ...Why is Mr. Jarvis talking to me in a lift?" The question is almost defensive, even if it's not the best first presentation she can give to the collective party. It's got the defensive tone of someone protecting a dear friend. And then she realizes there is definitely more than one person to meet here and she probably is coming off slightly insane.

With a brief breath, her business like, purely professional smile refreshes itself upon her features and she shakes off the momentary nostaliga. "Forgive me. I must seem incredibly rude. This night seems full of unexpected surprises..." With that, she breezes across the room on her smart black high heels, carefully unbuttoning her trench coat to reveal a neat, if old fashioned, cut gray suit. For anyone with an eye for detail, her stockings even have that classic seam up the back of the legs.

~

It's been a good day for Ben. He's gotten to enjoy a delicious sandwhich, have a piece of pie, and drink a huge tankard of Milk. When Peggy arrives, Ben is kind enough to stand and offer are quick salute, "It's an honor to meet you Agent." he says.

~

Captain America is sitting on one end of a couch, the shield leaning against the end - the sharp eye can tell he does that a lot, based on the dent it's rim has settled into. "Hey there...some people would like to meet you." Is he a bit nervous about this? Maybe.

~

Pepper Potts looks up from where she's preparing a pot of tea and smiles, abandoning the teapot for the moment to walk over and properly greet Peggy. "Agent Carter, hi. Welcome. I'm Virginia Potts, but everyone calls me Pepper. And this is Ben Grimm. Please, make yourself at home. Oh, and JARVIS is the A.I. that keeps this building running." And then she mentally rewinds the woman's initial questions and realization hits. "I guess that Mr. Jarvis is who Tony patterned the AI after. I ... never got to meet him myself, and by the time I was hired to work for Tony, the AI was a fixture in any place that he considers even vaguely resembling home. So, would you care for some tea?"

~

The smart brunette's dark eyes flicker across the place, taking every detail apart in lightning quick fashion. Peggy has the gaze of a woman who is used to assessing a scene as fast as possible -- friendly or not. Ben is given a slight look of curiosity, but it's not open disregard or shock. It's more intrigue than anything else. She offers him her hand smoothly, without hesitation or fear, picking up Pepper's words and his name. "Mr. Grimm? It's a pleasure. And no, no... No need to salute. Please. I don't even think my title is proper any longer, I'm not exactly commissioned again yet." She gives a little, spitfire sort of smile. The key word there was yet.

Then Peg's eyes settle back on Pepper, quickly assessing the woman with a single once over. Apparently, she approves of what she sees. Pepper is given her hand also for a respectful, business like shake. "Pepper. It's an honor. And...I am saddened you never met his namesake. Edwin Jarvis was a... remarkable man." There is just a hint of aching behind those words, the distant tug of missing a friend. "Tea would be completely lovely." A smile is then given in Steve's direction, eyes dropping from his handsome frame to his shield, "Keep setting it like that and you'll dent the thing." She teases him lightly.

~

"And I hope you weren't watching me pee JARVIS. That would just be weird." Jean says as she walks out of the bathroom. She is pauses and blinks at the amount of people suddenly here. She cocks her head to the side and gives everyone an odd wave before she makes her way back to her half eaten apple pie with melted vanilla ice cream.

~

"Peggy, these are...Jean, come meet Peggy Carter...*some* of my team." Not the entire selection, of course. But some of them.

Well to be fair. it's a big team. It' takes a while if Cap is going to introduce anyone. When Peggy offers a hand he takes it in his massive four fingered mit and gives it a single shake. Gingerly enough not to hurt her hand, but firm enough to show respect. As Jean re enters, Ben clears his throat and says, "I am sure Jarvis wouldn't do that Red. He's a perfect gentleman."

~

Someone's walking down the walk slowly, the distinct click click of heels at a calm pace. Natasha Romanov comes into view, reading a tablet and half-muttering to herself as she reads. SHe';s wearing a comfortable panted business suit, her red hair in a loose bun to keep it out of the way. "..Oh." She notices everyone lounging around, and blinks. "Hello Steve, Jean. Hi Ben, haven;t seen you in a while. And hello again Miss Carter." she greets everyone in turn.

~

"Of course not, Dr. Gray. There are no video sensors in private areas such as lavatories, and audio sensors there are for emergencies only." The AI responds to the just-returning woman completely calmly, and probably disconcertingly to Peggy. Sorry.

Pepper smiles as Jean as she returns, then heads back to get the tea going. She actually spends several seconds deliberating on WHICH tea to brew, even though the choices here are FAR fewer than what she keeps in her office. Earl Grey, that's always good... Yunnan would go well with the pies, and Assam with the sandwiches, and then there's the last bit of that Russian Caravan-ish stuff that Nat used to hand blend for her...

~

As she moves to extend her hand to Peggy, "Any friend of Steve's is a friend of mine." Jean smiles as she turns to look towards Natasha as she enters. It is clear that Jean is different since Nat las saw her. She cocks her head to the side clearly not knowing the woman before she looks at Steve with a questioning eyebrow. She remains silent for now as the woman clearly knowns Jean. She turns to look back at Peggy, "I hope your enjoying the tour. Nice place right?"

~

If Jarvis' voice is throwing her off greatly, Peggy doesn't much show it. A slightly odd smile sets itself into her ever-red lips, but she swallows back any further commentary. "Miss Potts, you are an excellent hostess, though I suspect you are the sort that needs to be reminded to sit down and relax once in a while." She calls after the woman, as the strawberry blonde has already stepped away for the tea. Then Jean's words catch her notice and she turns her smile back to the redhead, "Miss Grey, was it? A pleasure. Steve is... well, we go back, quite a ways. I'm glad he's found himself a good set of comrades again these days. While Captain America is amazing, he always did best with a good team at his side." Ben and Natasha are both given a respectful smile as she says that, something in her eyes showing a touch of gratitude to them. "Good evening, Miss Romanov. And yes, this place is... gorgeous. And more busy than plane, it'd seem. Or is this where everyone comes to relax and just be *people*?"

~

"Honestly, we were just meeting up for a late lunch. Also, Jean Grey has been absent for a while, so we were catching her up." He doesn't, yet, mention anyone's abilities. Ben's obvious. The others will have to speak for themselves. "And...I couldn't ask for better comrades."

~

Ben Grimm picks up his ridiculous large tankard of milk and chugs the last off it before offering a little wave to the Widow, "Heya Widow. I've just been getting back into the swing of driving the bus for the kids again. It's good to see you though." He says with nod. To Peggy then he nods, "It's been a long time since I got to just be people, but you guys are some of the few I can hang around and not feel like a freak, so, yeah I guess this is just as much a clubhouse as it is an ops center. A very expensive clubhouse with a lot of cool toys."

~

"We all need somewhere we can just relax and not worry about how the world sees us." Natasha replies to Ben. She's not at all bothered by how big and rocky Ben is. "Miss Potts, that *does include you." she teases, walking over to Pepper. "Hey, a came up with a new blend, still trying to get the ratio right, but it's a good winter blend." She offers Pepper a small tin. "So, how is everyone doing?" She grabs a bit to eat, still eying her tablet over.

~

Pepper Potts heard the new footsteps and turns to look, and waves hello to Natasha currently dressed in her Natalie 'disguise'. Earl Grey it is, as Nat already looks a little stressed. And, thankfully, this is one of the bigger teapots so she won't have to re-brew too frequently. She accepts the new tin from Natasha with an 'oooh'. "Well, you'll be glad to know that Ben and Steve and Jean all made sure I ate something for lunch." Not intentionally, but still.

While the tea is steeping, she starts pulling down coffee mugs to use for tea cups because little six ounce cups usually only manage to annoy Tony. And Thor and Ben? They might as well be thimbles. At least these coffee cups all say something different and witty and goofy. One even has a photo of Tony giving a way overexaggerated wink.

~

As she turns to look back at Natasha she smiles slightly. Jean moves to sit down and finish off her pie as she just falls silent to listen to the conversation.

~

The comment Steve makes about comrades draws Peggy's gaze back to him for a moment and something in her eyes just softens. She still looks at him that way, after all this time. "Good." She murmurs, genuine happiness behind her quieter tone for him. And then something Ben says registers and she turns back to the strangely formed giant of a man. Her brows furrow tightly and she dares step a bit closer, "Mr. Grimm, I do not know you well, but I have every confidence in the fact that you are *absolutely* a person, and probably one of the better ones in this world. I cannot claim to understand how you came upon your current frame, but it does not make you a freak. Some of the worst, most terrifyingly awful people I have known had the most normal of faces, and some of the best were very different from your average person."

~

"Ben," Steve notes, "Is also the best pilot I know." Maybe his way of letting Peggy know that he doesn't keep the big guy around just for whatever strength that rocky form carries. Steve adds, "And yes we made her eat lunch. She gets as bad as Tony some days."

~

"Thank you for saying Ms. Carter. That's very kind of ya." He turns then to Steve and cracks a wane smile. "I'll cop to that one. One of the reasons, I was happy to reactive my commission and transfer to SHIELD. I get to spend most of day flying really fancy air aircraft all over the world." I mean he gets to do that for the FF and the Avengers too, but SHIELD? Much more steady gig.

~

Pepper Potts has kind of lost track of the other conversations around her, as she's opened the tin Natasha just gave her to breathe in the aroma of its contents. Oh my, that's nice. She pulls one cup aside and gets a strainer out of a drawer to fix a single cup of the new blend for herself. "Would anyone prefer coffee over tea?" Because THAT is easy to make considering Tony's coffee-making facilities in this building. Every floor. Every room large enough to contain more than three chairs.

~

Jean Grey shakes her head and smiles, "No. I should return back to the school in a few. If I drink coffee now. I will never get to sleep tonight." She finishes the last of her apple pie before it floats to the dishwasher. It opens by itself and it slides into place. The dishwasher door closing once again before Jean turns her attention back to the conversation at hand.

~

"Not kind, Mr. Grimm. Honest. I don't have time for meaningless niceties." Peg states simply, her voice clipped and proper, sounding very much like she probably would be dashing off to some directors meeting at any point in time -- even if she really had no where pressing to go any time in the future. She finally finishes shrugging out of her trench coat and casually tosses it across the back of a chair, taking the commentary about this being the place to just relax and be 'people' to heart. Steve's comment about lunch makes Peggy smirk, "Tony sounds like his father. And Pepper, I do demand that you come, sit with us and *relax* once you are done with the tea. I'll be positively put out if you don't." With that, she moves over to one of the seats closer to Steve and neatly folds down into sitting, trying to relax herself. The key word there is probably trying.

~

"You know I only drink coffee if I need the caffine." Natasha remarks, claiming a chair near Steve and nibbling her pastry. She isn;t eating much, which is her usual - she rarely ate large meals, as her friends knew. She turns her attention backto her tablet, making some note on it. "That reminds me Steve - Tynan wants to get her cert on the Quinjet." She glances at Pepper. "I second Miss Carter's order, Miss POtts/

~

Captain America nods. "Tony is worse than his father." There's a fond note to the voice. Then he turns towards Natasha, before glancing at Ben. "Ben's the most qualified instructor. Do you have time to do it?"

~

Pepper Potts actually blinks at Peggy for a moment, as if unsure whether or not her corporate armor is needed here, but then relents and quickly loads a serving tray down with the teapot, milk and sugar, and all of those mugs including her own still-steeping mug. It's a bit iffy for a moment, as the tray is HEAVY, but she manges it.

~

"I taught a 13 year old girl to fly a Fantasticar, I think I can help Tynan get her wings on a quinjet." Ben says with a nod of his head. He settles onto one of the big stools that are wisely place for people like him, and Thor and the Hulk. He looks to Natasha and says, "Tell her to come and find me and I'll help her get her cert done."

~

"Worse? How the lot of you haven't given yourselves heart attacks..." Peggy mutters the last sentence, but not really quiet enough to be missed, an amused smirk trailing it as she looks over Steve, Natasha and Pepper. She doesn't know the rest well enough to lecture them on overworking. Seeing Pepper, though, makes her realize just how much tea she has. Peggy's sprung back up to her feet within a heartbeat and double timing it across the floor on her own set of high heels. "Pepper! Let me help, goodness..." Without actually waiting for an answer, she reaches over to gently relieve Pepper of a few things on the edges, careful to take them off in equal footing as to not disturb the tray's balance.

~

"You let a 13 year old girl fly...under supervision, I hope." Steve smiles a little bit, surprised...but not that surprised.

~

Natasha Romanov chuckles at Ben. "Just warning, she's a bit... well honestly the girl's got the personality of a hyperactive cat. Sometimes she can't focus." There's fondness in her voice. She starts when she sees how much Pepper has on her plate (literally) and is almost half up out of her seat, when Peggy beats her to it. She settles back down. She takes another bite of pastry, tapping on her tablet with the other hand.

~

Pepper Potts smiles her thanks to Peggy -- all of the peripheral items are empty mugs, so easy enough to remove them from tray. She walks over and sets the tray down then starts pouring, setting a mug in front of Natasha without asking, then looking at Jean and Steve and Ben. "Would anyone else like some tea?" Peggy's got the rest of the mugs, so... yeah.

~

As she watches Pepper with the tray, Jean keeps a mental eye on the objects to make sure none fall. She shakes her head, "No I should be getting back." She slides off her stool and smooths out her uniform. "Thank you for seeing me, Ms. Potts. I am sad I missed Mr. Stark. Tell him to contact me when he is able." She walks over to Steve and pats his forearm, "You have a good heart." She would know, yet an odd goodbye as she walks up to Ben. She looks up at the massive man and gives him a playful tap, "We will talk soon about that sparring." She looks over at Nat as if wary of her before she says, "Nice to meet you." She begins to float off the ground as she gives Peggy a wave, "A pleasure as well." She waves her A card in the air before she floats towards the elevator, "You know how to find me if you need me."

~

Ben Grimm blinks at Cap, "Well, yeah of course!" Ben says mock defensively. I mean, he'd like to see Cap tell those big blue eyes 'no' to something. But I digress. He turns to Jean and says, "Of coures Red, be well and be careful out there. It's good to see you again."

~

Peggy Carter does a genuine double take at Jean's *floating* towards the lift, pausing for a moment with all those mugs in her hands. "...Ah. Yes. Miss Grey! Of course. Be... Be well." Peg's voice clips out, chipper and warm, if a bit perplexed. Her smile returns, all calm and carrying on, though. It's become a theme. She then begins to dole out the mugs to most everyone who is left, doing what bits she can to help Pepper with the tea service. "...I used to hate it when the boys asked me to get them coffee. They thought it was all I was bloody well good for, back then. Now it's... rather comforting." Peg offers to Pepper.

~

Ben Grimm nods to Natasha as well, "We've met on a few occassions. She's pretty excitable but piloting a quinjet is good motivation to take a breath and focus. I mean if you don't you'll end up in a burning ball of orange flame on the cold unforgiving ground."

~

Pepper Potts smiles and nods to Jean as takes her leave, and manages to not let on how amused she is that THAT, of all things, is what rattles Peggy. She does offer a soft 'thanks' for the help getting everything sorted out, and then FINALLY settles into a chair with her separately brewed cup of tea.

~

"Take care, Jean," Cap says to the departing redhead, then goes back to eating his pie. It's a good excuse to relax with people he does need to remember to relax with.

~

Natasha Romanov nods. "I think she's starting to have more backbone. She's grown up a lot since she first signed up. I'm so proud of her progress." Nat does seem a bit disconcerted at Jean's glance her way, but stows away the emotion. She sniffs at her brwing tea, deciding it needs more time. Tap Tap goes her finger on the tablet. "There is comfort in the mundane." she muses at Peggy.

~

"There... there is, Miss Romanov." Peggy admits after a moment of hesitation. The hesitation would be in admitting that she was at all uncomfortable, but this was supposed to be a place where guards came down (apparently). So she dares to let just a bit of that professional guard down. She nods in approval to Pepper actually sitting and scoops up her own cup of tea, taking just a bit of milk in it, before settling back into the sofa herself. Now she just goes quiet, silently observing the interactions around her, the comfort the team has, the care between them.

~

Clint Barton arrives in the HQ deessed like he just came from or is gooing to a gym for a orkout and he looks around at the group, "I see how you all are, have a party and don't invite me." despite his words there is a smiel on his face ans he walks closer to the gathering.

~

And that said, Ben sighs and pushes up from his reinforced stool. "Well I should get going. I've got shift at the Hellicarrier, then I'm driving the bus for a recon team in the morning." Ben looks around the room and says, "Cap, good to see you again. Nat, it's been to long, we should catch up again soon. Pepper, always a pleasure, Agent Carter it was an honor to meet you." And he looks up then as Clint arrives and he cocks his thumb over his shoulder to the stool he was just sitting on, "Well that's because I hadn't had time to warm yer set for you yet Barton. It should be all toasty for you now. Have a good night everyone."

~

Captain America laughs. "There's sandwich fixings, pie, tea, and whatever drinks are in the fridge. Jean came back...you just missed her. And this..." He points to Peggy. "...is Peggy Carter. Take care, Ben."

~

Pepper Potts looks up from her own cup of tea (straight, no milk or sugar) when she hears Clint's voice and smiles. "Hey!" Then her eyes flit over to Peggy very briefly, but Steve beat her to the introductions. "Peggy, this is Clint Barton. Another of the Avengers, though..." she leans a bit and squints. "You didn't bring Lucky with you?" Is she possibly pouting a tiny bit?

~

Natasha Romanov waves. "Take care Ben." she sats. SHe tilts her head back to look at Clint kind of upside down. "Heya Clint, not our fault you're always late." she teases. "Get some food into you." She waves to the seat Ben just got up from. She pauses a bit. "Yeah, where's the pup Clint? Not sick again I hope?"

~

If Clint has read much of SHIELD's history, the name Peggy Carter is a rather notorious one, being one of SHIELD's founders, and all. Though the woman perched on the edge of the sofa barely looks a day over 30, so that might be a bit strange. Peggy tilts her head to Ben, "I'll get in line for flight classes, Mr. Grimm." She calls after him warmly, but then turns her dark eyes back to the newest entrant. Another face she didn't know. He's given the same once over Pepper got, evaluating a dozen things with a single glance, though her eyes might linger on his arms a *bit* longer than most. Red lips curl into a slightly warmer smile, "Mr. Barton... a pleasure. Would you like tea? I do believe there is an extra mug."

~

Clint Barton nods ot Ben, 'alright, take care Grimm. After al lwe can't have you missing a shift, you need that money tolose to me the next poker game." he voice ttil l friendly then he blinks abit at the name, "the Peggy Carter?" he asks, 'Wow never thought I would meet you." He walks over to shake her hand then answers, "Yes I would like some tea." he then answers Pepper, "Nah I left Arrow at home, he is feelign fine just was a bit lazy today."

~

"Sometimes it's best to leave them at home." Why yes, Steve has a dog. No, it is not named Bucky. "Watch out, Peggy, I think Clint might have some hero worship going on."

~

"Wait. You have a dog, Steve?" Pepper actually looks affonted, though only jokingly so. "And you haven't introduced me? I'm trying to decide if I should be offended." She looks at Clint again. "I demand a doggie play date."

~

"...Who...or what... is Lucky?" Peggy had first been assuming a child, in truth, but then there are others discussing dogs and ber thoughts catch up, "Oh! Oh. Cainines. Well, that's sweet. He hasn't introduced me either, Pepper. So don't feel too badly." And then Peggy's smiling at Clint again, a chuckle escaping the back of her throat at his surprise. "I cannot say I ever expected to meet anyone in the 21st century either, but I will take it for the pleasure it is. And yes... I am *the* Peggy Carter. Only one, to my knowledge, which is probably for the best as I'm not certain anyone would want to handle two." She tosses him a bit of a wink over her tea.

~

Clint Barton smiles, "Yes, Lucky or Arrow, he answers to both is my dog." he grins, "And I think Pepper's sanity blanket." he nods to Pepper, "alright I will bring him by and he can even spend the night with Auntie Pepper if you want." he then gives Steve a thumbs up, "I think we need more Avengers Pets we will have ot see if they get along." He nods to Peggy, "It is an honor to meet you, ma'am." he looks over to Natasha, "So how are you doing Natasha? Everything going alright?"

~

Natasha Romanov laughs warmly at the discourse around her. "Hmm, sadly my type of lifestyle is not suited for a dog. Maybe I should get a cat?" she ponders. "Well, I guess I;d have to ask James first." she muses to herself absently, scrolling through something on her tablet. "I've been well, Clint. A bit of insanity here and there,but... Well, with our work, insanity is a given." She seems to realize she left her tea seeping quite a bit linger than intended. Shrugging, she pulls the teabag out, and sips the overly strong tea without a care.

~

Something in Natasha's words catches Peg's notice and her eyes narrow thoughtfully, "...Why would you need James' permission? Is he staying with you, Natasha?" And her smile actually warms as she asks that, a bit of hopefulness behind her eyes.

~

Pepper Potts looks amused by Clint's words even if she does try to swat him on one arm and misses by miles. "And Lucky is the BEST sanity blanket ever. He's kept me sane though... quite a bit." She takes a sip of her tea to hide the shadow that flickers through her eyes, and then she's turning to look at Nat also to hear her answer about James. All the juiciest gossip, right here folks!

~

"You and Bucky?" There's...a hesitation there, but it's only slight. Something in Steve's eyes that isn't, quite, jealousy.

~

Natasha Romanov actually blushes as everyoine is suddenly interested in her relationship with Bucly. "I-It's not like *that* Steve!" she almost sounds embarrassed. "I mean, yeah he's crashing on my couch, but... He's still trying to adjust, you know? And he trusts me to able to handle myself if he gets... twitchy." she gives Steve a meaningful look. "Besides, he's a complete gentleman. And a dear friend."

~

Clint Barton laughs a bit, "Well here we all thought you have found a Mr. Widow." he teases though it should be noted he was the one that didn't say something jumping ot that conclusion. He nods, "sounds like a godo arrangement.' he then looks over to Pepper and smiles, "So how are things with the new intern?" by which of course he means Tynan.

~

As Natasha explains the situation, Peggy actually relaxes and smiles a bit more. "Good. I'm glad he's got somewhere that he's not alone. I... I had a long conversation with him the other night. I know he's still adjusting, but... It's still Bucky in there too. He's so scared of hurting someone because he cares so damn much *about* everyone. If...if you ever need help, Natasha, or you need to switch off for a night, just say?" Peggy offers gently, her clipped tone underlined with a fierce touch of protectiveness where Bucky is concerned. It's probably shared by many in this room. She's most noticably *not* looking at Steve as that almost-jealous tone comes. But there is a tightness in her shoulders that wasn't there before. She swallows back every emotion possible other than that protective encouragement of Natasha.

~

When Clint asks about the intern, Pepper actually hesitates with a glance toward Natasha. "She's ... still a teenager. Doing well, considering." She then moves to get up and rinse out her cup to come back and get a refill of the Earl Grey. "That //is// a good winter blend, Nat, though maybe a little heavy on the pu-erh." And yes, she noticed Steve's reaction to Nat's news compared to everyone else's, but she's also good enough to not mention it. If he feels he needs to speak up, he can.

~

Captain America laughs. "Well, you know I...wouldn't exactly be upset if two of the people I care about most..." He tails off. Oh. This is awkward. The shield. Yeah. the shield is *very* interesting.

~

That's it. The famous Black Widow, master of manipulating feelings, legendary ice queen... is blushing beet red. "Oh lord, Steve...!" She hides her face behind her tablet, for all the good that does. "James is dear to me, as a friend and - it's complicated okay?"

~

Clint Barton grins, "If that wht oyu have listed on relationship staus on facebook?" he asks with a striaght face, he realyl can't help himself at times.

~

That makes Peggy arch a brow, especially as Natasha blushes, that dark line climbing just a bit further up her forehead. She's smiling, even for the bit of strange tension that lies behind it, "...Natasha, a lady does not blush like that if there is no interest. Complicated is fine, but... God, I don't imagine SHIELD is any different than when I started it. I'd put good money on saying every week there is someone new trying to *kill* you all. You should just bloody well take a chance at being happy and enjoying yourself while you have that chance. You.. you don't want to know what it's like to lose it." She is pointedly not looking at Steve now.

~

Okay, if no one else is going to do it, Pepper will. She suddenly whips out her phone and snaps a photo of Steve looking off toward his shield and Nat almost as red as her hair. But, she spares her any further jibes. Instead, she leans to show her phone to Clint. "Tony owes me home cooked pancakes. I have proof." Yeah, when she best Tony something, it's not the usual currency considering his bank portfolio.

~

"Proof of *what*?" Steve demands, looking up from his shield. Uh oh.

~

Natasha Romanov grabs the remains of her cherry tart and no-look tosses it at Clint's head. THat's what he gets for being a smartass. "Intentions have nothing to do - Oh god what did Tony bet?" she eeps out, and behind her tablet, she's trying very hard to not look panicked, for some reason. She's very tense, but trying to play it off.

~

Peggy Carter is now just quiet. These are friendship dynamics she doesn't know well enough, nor is a close enough part of, to comfortably intrude. She's also caught up in a few thoughts, so she takes the chance to take a good sip of her tea and sink back a bit more in the couch.

~

Clint Barton leans ovr to get a look at the phone and then splat right into the side of his head is hte remains of a chaerry tart and he looks over at Nat, "what did I do?" he knows exactly what he did but still plays innocent. "Wow I must admit I never would expect the Boss to cook."

~

"He bet me pancakes that you were incapable of blushing, Nat. And I by no means expect them to be //edible//, Clint, but by hell or high water, he WILL cook them for me." Pepper says positively smugly, then moves her phone so Natasha can see it now. The photo is perfectly innocent, though Nat is very clearly blusing very, very red.

~

Captain America puts a hand over his mouth. No, he's not going to laugh, and besides? He's still blushing a little bit, just a little bit himself. "If you...if you really want a cat, Natasha, I know a shelter with a good selection."

~

Natasha Romanov relaxes ever so slightly at the explanation - but just facepalms at the whole thing. "I know you care about your bodd Miss Potts, but that man is just asking for pain." she growls out, but it';s not very threatening. The sentiment is very clearly, 'Goddamn you, Anthony Stark.' She turning to Cap. "...Thank you Steve. I've have to clear it with my landlord first beforew I even as James." She stands up sudddenly, downing the last of her tea. "It's been wonderful chatting, but I do have work to get back to. Take care everyone." WIth that, she hurries out of the room, albeit in a controlled and merely slightly hurried step.

~

Clint Barton nods ot Natasha as hsehe starts to leave, "Take care of yourself, and you know if you need a ahnd, you have my number." he then decides to get up nad check out hte snadwhich fixings he was told about.

~

Peg recognizes that step. It's the sort of speed walk she's done out of a room several times before. It also means Peggy's on her feet and grabbing her trench coat a second later, "I...I think I'm just going to be sure she's alright. I should be headed back anyway. It was lovely meeting you Pepper. Mr. Barton." She offers them both a brief nod, and then there is a momentary smile to Steve, "Good night, Steve." With that, she double times it to the exit in hopes she can catch the lift with Natasha, or at least catch up with her outside.

~

Pepper Potts blinks after Natasha, then nods as Peggy chooses to go after the other redhead. And Clint wanders off in search of sandwich fixings. Okay then. She looks at Steve and asks a bit tentatively, "So, how have you been lately?"

~

Captain America shakes his head. Then goes back to staring at his shield. He almost seems ashamed of himself. "I've been...fine."

~

Clint Barton walks out of the kitchen with a snadwhich in hand and asking, 'what happneed in there?" he then says, "Or is this some thing i would rather not know?"

~

"You know, Steve, if you ever need someone to talk to..." Whatever else Pepper was about to say is cut off by Clint's returning to comment on the state of the kitchen cabinets. "Oh. Nothing major. Jean was fixing sandwiches for us and got a little ... exuberant about it. JARVIS, do you already have a repair request in place for those cabinets?

"Indeed, Miss Potts."
