What: Cir-El is watched by Superman as she patrols while powerless |
Mia had drained her powers to pass a physical without giving away she was Superlass, but it has been a week now...and the folks at STAR Labs tell her she might have damaged herself, otherwise her powers should have been back after three days. She may heal eventually, or her powers might kick in if something makes them, or they may never come back. It is that lass possibility that worries her.
That is why she is here, on patrol. She has been a hero for almost a year, even though her memories are fake, she has been intended to be a hero as long as she remembers. The question is, CAN she be a hero without her powers? Well there are unpowered heroes, she just needs to see if she can do her part as one of them.
The Titans Tower provided what she needed. A spare grapple gun (she does not know if it is Dick's or Tim's), some light body armor to wear under her clothes, and she was able to find a couple of tasers that she wired into grips so that she could activate the glide aspect of her cape. She wore her blue body suit...as it is the only one that covers her arms and legs and it is COLD out there. She has her blue boots and gloves, and her black body suit over her blue body suit, plus a blue crash helmet. She is not wearing her Superman family emblem, if she were wearing it people might expect too much of her.
She makes a note in the Tower computer logs, "On my way to Hell's Kitchen. Cir-El: January 16, 2016"
Far above Mia in the clouds floats a man dressed in Blue, and Red. He had heard things about this hero he now watch from his position way above the clouds which happened more then one would think with super hearing though he didn't like to share that fact as many would just think it him spying on them. He was careful to be far enough up to not be able to be seen by the human eye, but not far enough away that he could zip in as he needed to he watched her with curiosity. He did not feel cold up here as he very much had his powers still and he used them to watch the girl in the blue body suit gliding around. This was not a safe route she choose but she seemed.. well the best he could say was awkward as she grapples and glides over a building he knows very well.
He isn't sure if he should interrupt at first as she doesn't look to be related to his creed as he thought she was maybe he was mistaken I mean if she was she would be flying but maybe she was one of Bruce's as she seems to be using their gear to move around. He considers all this just to realize he is stalling again and chuckles to himself. "Perhaps I should just watch her to be sure.. I mean worst case scenario nothing happens but she might need my help." he radio's to watch tower. "This is Superman consider me off duty for a bit if there is something you can't handle let me know but till then I might be off coms for a bit." as he continues to hover watching... waiting
Hell's Kitchen, one of the bad parts of the city. Not as bad as Mutant Town or the Suicide Slum, but no safe place either. On the other hand, one is less likely to run into super powered enemies here than normal humans, that is why she chose it for this patrol. She has practice with gliding by now, but this is the first time she has needed to use a grapple to gain height. She has a police band radio in a belt pouch, connected to an earphone, and a pair of binoculars. She lands on a building and takes a look around, this is much harder without at least her super hearing...
As Clark is about to come down towards her he hears over the radio she is holding. "This is Dispatch.. we have a pair of one male.. one female shooting up a liqueur store. Requesting backup it seems they are trying to rob the place." given this is in cop-speak which Clark had heard many times in his time as a reporter. So in return Superman doesn't float down to say hello like he was going to, but waits curious to see what she is going to do about this or if he needs to step in. As he looks over he can actually see the building and the two people inside even from here.. It looks like a near abandoned Liqueur store with four people in it.. The two people with shotguns, the owner and what looks to be some unlucky drunk.
Cir-El jumps off the rooftop, into the wind to ride the updraft from the edge of the building, once she has some height she glides towards the store. She lands running...she kind of has to as the cape will not let her go to slow while gliding, and takes the cape in her hands, unclipping it. She Kicks the door open and dives in, rolling to her feet while assessing the situation. She swings the cape, wrapping the end around the shotgun of the first foe, and pulls it from his hands, then ducks around a shelf to get out of sight of the second gunman.
Superman chuckles as he watches her glide into combat. He had watched Batman fight in their journeys together and though she did get the surprise on them there was a bit of a difference though he doubted he could fight as well as her. He descended on the building though he doesn't land just float above the building out of sight from anyone inside as he can just look through the rooftop with his vision he watches her disarm the first foe and duck away as the other one shoots at her missing but nailing the cans of beer just above her splashing it all over the place. The other draws a pistol as he was just disarmed and starts shooting at her general direction as well moving back to the counter as he shoots hoping to hop over it for cover not really knowing that she didn't have a gun. Superman didn't want her hurt, he didn't want anyone hurt but waits calmly for his chance narrowing his eyes at the two criminals. It took a lot for him to not just jump in but Bats had told him he needed to let these new heroes find their own way so he had to let her handle this. He is quietly waiting.. and watching. Though as he does narrow his eyes he gives a small blast of heat vision too focused and hot to be seen by the human eye as the woman inside yells out in pain and seems to drop the shotgun after her wild shot it may look as if she wasn't ready for the kick or the gun malfunctioned as she did get the shot off but then dropped it shortly after.
The Shotgun blast hit over her as she ducked. She gets sprayed with tomato sauce, which probably looks a bit gory for a second, but her costume shakes off the liquid. It looks like the one who fired the shotgun is unused to the hick, as they dropped the gun. She is more worried about the one who already pulled a handgun. Expertly she rolls up her cape while presenting a moving target, then she uses it like a whip, striking the wrist just above the gun to cause the muscles in the hand to momentarily relax before following up with a kick. Hopefully that will send the gun flying without setting it off...
As the one with the pistol is popping up to shoot at her again he is surprised by the person he is shooting at isn't hiding or running they are literally rolling towards him he yells in pain as the gun is whipped out of his hand, but is cut off by the swift kick he does go down without the gun going off. On the other hand the lady herself yells "Don't touch him!" as she leaps over the counter using it only as a kick off point to launch herself at Cir-El. Her goal is to grab her and pin her down as she swings wildly at her. Superman just shakes his head and watches the action.. It looks like the guns are out of play so that makes him feel a little more comfortable as he watches her wrap this crime up one way or the other. He is ready to help if this lady gets the better of her, but holds back for now as Cir-el seemed to have it up to this point.
Cir-El makes a note to learn acrobatics sometime, but she does not need it for this. Strait melee combat she is good, and when armed with her cape she has more tricks up her sleeve than most expect. She blocks the swing with her left and swings the cape low with her right, pulling hard on the foot supporting her foe's weight.
Though she might have the upper hand she is fighting out of anger and blind hate, while Cir-El is fighting with experience. It is quite obvious which out of the two will win that one, and as Cir-El puts the woman down the fight is over. One guy is rolling about hurt from her kick and now the lady from her fighting skills. Superman from where she doesn't even see smiles before he launches into the air again as he was no-longer needed here as she had this wrapped up, and in the bag. He didn't really need to help but he was glad that he was able to contribute a little bit at least as he would watch her from now he recognized her when he was shifting through visions and he knew at one point she had similar powers to his own, and whatever could take those... Could be a problem.
Superlass quickly uses an electric cord to tie these two up for the police and then salutes the shopkeeper before putting her cape back on as she leaves. She uses the grapple to get some height before hitting the air again. At least she can hold her own against basic thugs. She is not sure how she would do against anything tougher.
