Mutantown Gang War | |||||
| |||||
What: Gangs are no match for heroes |
Gunshots ring out as the usually rough neighborhood has gone from downtrodden to an all out warzone. Two gangs are desperately competing for control of the area known as Mutant Town. Why? There isn't much money in the area. In fact Mutant Town is quite poor. Why are both gangs so interested? Recruitment. There are a lot of powered individuals in Mutant town. Using them would mean easily taking down more turf.
Today it's a gang called the Freaks and the other gang is the Patriarchy. The Freaks formed in Mutant Town and are defending their turf. The Patriarchy is having a little trouble getting new recruits so they are attempting to force the issue. Its ugly. The Pats have a few meta humans who are unleashing hell. The Freaks are almost all mutants and some of them would be high class. Bullets fly, Rocks fly, large chunks of the pavement flies, Even some of the buildings fly courtesy of a telekinetic. The peaceful people just trying to get by are hiding in fear.
Enjoying her day off of school, Holly Pierce opted to come down to the city and just enjoy the day. She wanted to see Mutant Town. She needed to see what it was like for people not as fortunate as her. Sadly this leads her into the warzone. "Oh crap." She exclaims as she quickly looks for a safe haven. Late winter/early spring 2016, Mutant Town safehouse:
Someone's been here, ate all the MREs, and has no damn clue how to properly clean a plasma rifle. Note to self: invest in better locks.
The large, imposing man kneels to take stock of what's left in the safehouse, then he hears gunshots. Yeah. This isn't happening here, or now. He's already in uniform and already has enough weapons on his person to stop a small army, but he grabs a plasma rifle as he leaves to head to surface level. Time to go to work.
Mia Kent patrols the city AS Mia sometimes. A lot of times, trouble does not happen if there is a visible Super presence in the area...which does not mean it does not happen later. Being there NOT in costume when things are happening is both easier and harder. Mia can occasionally handle things herself...but not when things get really bad. Gunshots tend to mean things are beyond Mia...she switches to her Superlass costume in an empty alley and leaps over a building to land near the battlezone. She does not think it will work, but says loudly, "Let's break this off peacefully, before I have to end it by force."
Caim was already here, people watching as it were so when the warzone happens there is no major reaction. He sighs as he stands and grabs his cane. "Amateurs." He mutters with disgust as he looks to those nearby. The carnage doesn't seem to phase him and when one of the gangbangers simply empties the clip into the man wearing the expensive suit. What happens next is probably unexpected as the bullets tear through his suit shirt, but flatten against his skin as if it was nothing. Caim grabs the uzi and flips the banger, kicking the downed man hard enough to knock him out. He drops he empty uzi and begins to just calmly walk to another now.
The purple and yellow clad form of a man, glowing with a nimbus of light passing overhead stops above the warzone, golden hair jerking as his flight stops suddenly, looking at the chaos going on below in sudden concern. Starmans face turns into a severe grimace of stress as he looks down on the warzone breaking out, trying to make sense, to find a point to intervene, to do something. Blank white eyes try to see everything at once and he locks on a car, flying toward a building, hurtled in the melee and he moves, darting down, grabbing the hulk of the sedan by the axle and pulling, quickly overloading one of the TK users, not that he's aware of it. He grunts as he rights the car, moving to fly the thing out of the way as Spanish pleas and prayers come from inside.
Things really begin heating up as both gangs begin turning their attention onto the would be heroes. While this would be okay under normal circumstances, Its not because there are some powered individuals headed toward those who have made their presence known.
A meta from the Patriarchy heads toward Cir-El, "Hey little girl, how about you go tell your daddy to come fight us. You can make me a sandwich." He laughs at the painfully annoying joke. He then attacks her with Red Solar energy. He doesn't know if it will work on her or not.
Caim is met with someone who happens to be the strong silent type. Literally. He looks like a (oh my god a)giant rock! He's also got the strength to back that up. Any shots fired at him will chip away at his rocky form and likely annoy him pretty good.
The Starman is met with a Psychic who is having not having any of this crap today. He attacks him telepathically using as much as he can.
Several of the common people from the patriarchy recognize Holly and move in to attack her. "Hey remember us? It was cute what you did to our boys. We are going to show you where a woman belongs." They smugly state as they draw guns on the girl.
Holly would panic. She would be in a boat load of fear but her training is definitely begining to pay off. She shakes her head. "This is a really bad idea... for you." Wind begins picking up. Quickly she rises as a snownado forms and carries her upward. She then begins dropping the temperature on the men. A white aura forms around her. As guns fire the bullets become extremely frail and crumble when they hit her leaving her with only bruises.
Cir-El is not an average Kryptonian or Daxamite, while she can not ABSORB red solar energy, it does not effect her any more than any other kind of light. She responds to the harmless attack, "Feels good to me, have some!" She fires a basic blast of red solar plasma back at the one who tried to attack her, just to shot it does not work. It might melt his weapon without hurting him too much...if he drops it fast. Not having Telescopic vision, she assumes it is a weapon he is using.
Sometimes shock and awe is the best tactic, especially against undisciplined ganger scum. The towering man appears from an alleyway, lifts a VERY large, futuristic-looking weapon, and fires at one of the cars belonging to one of the gangs. "Do I have your attention yet, or do I have to start aiming for vitals?"
Caim smirks as the big guy made of rock begins to approach him. He pulls a desert eagle out of his suit jacket and opens fire, sending three shots to the chest. "Lets see if you can do any better then the world, precious." He says as he stands here to let the rock man punch him as hard as he can. "Rethink your life and leave, before I decide to see if your heart is rock covered." He says with a serious tone, one that meant his words.
Starman lands the car and starts to crawl out from under it when the pain rips through his head, causing him to clutch at his skull, letting out a howl of pain as the car peels out and THUMP the rear tire runs over his form pressing him down to the street. So much for gratitude. Fighting through the pain telepathically inflicted on him, he tries to look around through the white hot pain, though none of the bleeding or hemorrhaging expected from such an assault, and he slowly, painfully pulls himself up, looking around, fighting the assault until he sees one man concentrating on him and he throws a hang out, fingers splayed, unleashing a stream of light, flaring from his hand. Enough to flash sunburn the skin sure, but rods? Cones? The harsh flash is supposed to be nonlethal, but not killing is different than blinding the eyes out of someones head.
Its Pandemonium now as things go really crazy. The gangs keep fighting each other. The Gangs fight the heroes. The Heroes fighting the gangs. Everyone is fighting everyone. ALL HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE!
BOOM!!! The car Cable shot explodes. That does stop some of the fighting. He now has a lot of attention and not in a good way. "Well, Look who just signed his death warrant." Guns are drawn and things are getting ugly.
There is one slight problem with Cir-el blasting the man who fired off red solar at her. He isn't carrying a gun. That blast was from his hands. So when he is hit he goes flying. His hair catches fire and he promptly runs off, heading to put himself out by diving into the river.
The guy fighting Caim is in shock someone actually withstood all he could dish out. He is tempted to stay and fight but he really doesn't wanna see his heart.
The Psychic is blinded! This disrupts his abilities and leaves him wide open for an attack.
The men attacking Holly get a rude awakening about what she can do. They quickly try to run away only to find their feet frozen to the ground.
Holly drops down and quickly freezes the guns so they can't do anything. She quickly runs for it before they can move again. She spies Cable and the X uniform he is wearing so she runs toward him! She herself is wearing a yellow and blue student's uniform from Xavier's. "Hiya, Nice to meet you. I'm Nor'Easter."
"...Stab his eyes... duck, girl!" Nathan calls out to Holly as the bangers start firing at him. He can't risk hitting her by firing back, so he throws up a telekinetic shield around himself and her. It's not the strongest he can manage, but it should be enough to at least stop the rather primitive projectiles coming their way. "What's an Xavier student doing caught up in a melee like this?" he asks her.
Cir decides it is time to employ some Kryptonian Speed, she locates the biggest weapons on the field (other than Nathan's), and crushes the barrels of 25 of them as she runs by. She is a bit slower than Superman or Supergirl...but still WAY fast.
Starman takes a reflexive breath and, free of the telepathic pain crippling him, launches himself at the Psychic, flying twenty feet and palms the man in the chest, sending him backward as he looks around. Seeing the gangers opening fire on Cable and Holly, launching himself into their firing line, nothing more subtle than a flying tackle at the mass of them, attempting to prevent coordinated fire on their targets, as arms like steep bars stretch out, low to the ground, seeking to strike under the center of gravity, to upend shooters. Cir-El isn't noticed for the moment, just another blur in the melee.
Caim nods to the kid. "Smart kid. I may have a job for you in the future." He says before moving his way to the men with guns and opens fire on the people who still had guns, aiming for shoulders and legs to disable those present who are still a threat. He looks to the others fighting the gangs and simply studies them when he can.
STRIKE!!!! Starman connects with a bunch of thugs. They go flying and quickly disband.
Cir-El destroys guns left and right, but there are still a few left.
The people attacking Cable and Holly are quickly are met with ricochets from their own weapons. A few get hit and flee.
Holly gets ready to fight. "I heard there was a good party going on and I couldn't resist!" She states facetiously. She closes her eyes and the sky begins going dark. Snow begins to fall and the wind picks up. A blizzard kicks off not to mention the temperature begins plummeting. "Keep your shield up. It will keep the warmth in. They are either going to disband or freeze!"
Caim is met with a hail of gunfire. He has plenty of attention now doesn't he. There aren't many people left but hey... they still got some fight!
Cable nods slowly. "Do what you need to." Why, oh why, does he always run into headstrong women? Ah, well. Much more helpful in a fight. He pares back the power of his shield slightly so it'll hold up longer, and any ganger coming close and trying to break through before Holly can ice them down is going to find themselves stuck with some very nasty mental suggestions. Doubly so if they're Patriarchy.
Superlass does not understand some people, here they have a prefect excuse to run away and yet they keep fighting. She suddenly notices a building hovering in midair starting to fall. A quick glance with X-ray vision shows it is occupied...She places herself under the central support column and tries to slow the fall.
Starman pulls up, rising as the snow whips through the air and he blinks, concentrating to center himself in the wind, looking down to drop back into the melee, looking up, distracted by the change of weather. Not really effected by the cold, but distracted by it enough to get punched in the back of the head by a thug with monstrous Mutant X-gene fueled force. The blow causes Starman to stagger forward three steps as the thug realizes his mistake at the shattering of his knuckles, and Starman turns around, looking at the Patriarchy thug and swats him back as the wind whips up and the temperature plummets around him, still not quite understanding where the cold's coming from, he looks around. Power, sure, but NO training this one. Starman's dressed in purple and yellow, but he's green as green can be. It's then that he sees Cir-El trying to catch a building and he crouches, launching himself into the air. Once more, trying to catch a falling object with Superlass. Well, THAT he's done before. Sweeping under, he chooses a load bearing beam and grips it, grunting. Adding the force of his powered flight to her efforts to safely lower the structure without tearing it apart.
Bullets hit Caim, ruining what is left of his suit and instead he stands there until he is sure they have emptied their guns into him. "Now, lets see how I do on shooting people, children." He says as he raises his desert eagle and fires at the patriarchy, his aim deadly as he aims to put them down. These were kill shots, no longer meant to wound.
The thugs have had enough. They are starting to leave in a hurry. They are outgunned, underpowered, and in trouble. Quickly they run off.
The building is taken down safely courtesy of Starman and Cir-El. Everything is shaping up A-okay!
Holly releases her grasp on the weather and it quickly returns to the way it should be. She lets out sigh of relief. "Sorry for giving orders. I just usually forget to warn others about the cold I can make. I wanted to make sure I didn't hurt any friends."
"Not something I'm used to," Cable says to Holly as he surveys the scene otherwise. Pretty much all the gangers have scattered, except those too beaten up to move, and the ones Caim managed to catch at the end with kill shots. "I know things can get chaotic here, but I never expected a turf war," he says as he straps his big gun to his back and lowers the telekinetic field. Infection's stable, good, he didn't overextend himself. He looks to Holly. "You said Nor'Easter? Never heard of you." Which doesn't mean jack as far as timelines go.
Cir-El starts trying to save lives of the fallen, if she can. X-ray vision and Microscopic vision to see where to seal wounds and focused blasts of heat to cauterize wounds...she wishes she was a better trained medic, "Anyone here a doctor? I do not want people dying if I can help it."
"Let em." Caim says coldly. He holsters his desert eagle, holster seen along his back now that he is shirtless from bullet holes. "These people would no sooner leave you for dead or torture. It is only fair to return the sentiment." He says as he looks to those who were injured, kicking one where he shot their leg so they yell in pain.
Starman guides the building back down to its foundation, "I'll help get people out of here. Buildings gotta be condemned." He says as he starts working to evacuate the structure. You don't yank a building up and put it back down and leave it sound for occupancy. For some reason Starman knows this implicitly, shuttling those inside the building to safety on the ground out of harms way.
Holly Pierce shrugs, "I'm new. I'm not an X-man. Just a student who took out a chunk of Boston by accident when my powers activated. I've been at the Mansion for a few months and have learned a good bit about using my powers." She quickly pulls out her phone and calls 911.
Cable puts a hand on Holly's shoulder and shakes his head. "They're already on the way. I jacked a cell signal with my bionics and put in a call five minutes ago." He steps forward, grimacing Caim's way. "Battle's over. Casualties of war are one thing, but senseless death is another." He reaches out with his mind to the fallen bangers. To the ones that are too far gone to save, all he can do is ensure they feel no pain. But for the rest, he slows their metabolic functions telepathically to ensure they last long enough to reach hospitals, setting bones so that one day they might walk again... perhaps with a limp, but without a cane or worse. It's triage care on a wide level, not enough to cure, but enough to prolong their lives. He breathes heavily as he wraps it up. "Forgot how much of a strain wide-range telepathy can be," he says to Holly.
Cir-El does not know enough, but she can hear which ambulances have been dispatched to here and get them hear faster by carrying them. She runs out to get the closest and warns the drivers, "Hold on!" before picking up the vehicle and flying it. She puts it down on the street and goes back for another.
"Very well." Caim says as he moves to retrieve his cane from where it was. He looks to Cable and the others, giving a nod. "If any of you wish to contact me, just look for me in Gotham." He says as he begins to head off. "My name is Caim."
Will Payton flies the last of the civilians to the street and goes back in, looking for people. Eventually coming out and landing on the street, looking up at the flying ambulance and nods, looking around, before heading to help clear a path for the rest of them to enter the scene.
Holly Pierce smirks a little and slips her phone away. She can hear the sirens wailing in the distance. "Amazing. You'd think the cops would have been here a lot sooner. I should probably get going. I'm not registered and I really don't wanna be hassled." She looks to the others. "Ummm... Thanks for the help. This was really crazy!"
Cable nods again. "I am, but I'd rather not deal with police right now." He turns to head back to his safehouse's hidden entrance, then looks back toward Holly. "If you run into Scott, tell him Nathan's home." Then he heads back to the entrance.
Things could be worse, but Cir wishes she had the amazing mind her father has in her memories...a mind with centuries of recorded Kryptonian knowledge that enables him to do such things as act as a doctor. She does not have that, it is her most annoying lack.
Starman moves the last of the obstacles out of the way and looks around as the emergency services arrive, nodding to himself and pausing for a moments thought before taking to the air, heading for altitude, moving west away from the scene. Rather than logging in as an unregistered hero he'll let others paint the picture of what happened as he flies off into the clear so far.
