Background

Jackson Hyde, son of Black Manta, Xebellian genetic experiment. His original place of birth was Xebel, an extra-dimensional Atlantean penal colony that his parents were captured and taken to while they were passing through the Bermuda Triangle. As the first outsider in decades he was supposed to be the key to their escape, but was stolen away by Mera, former queen of Xebel. He was taken to the surface, given to foster parents to keep him safe.

He didn't learn any of that until he was 17 years old. He didn't know what the strange tattoos he possessed meant, or who his real parents were. All he knew was what his parents told him: Water is dangerous, and they could use it to find him. So he avoided it, acted like any other kid, grew up, went to school, made friends, played sports. He tried to be a good guy, do the right thing, and he generally succeeded. He'd never seen a superhero, never particularly aspired to be one.

Then they came looking for him. His father and others who sought to use him as a way to set the prisoners of Xebel free found out where he was, and set out to take him back. Thankfully, Aquaman also happened to get a tip-off. Black Manta was driven back, and Aquaman explained his heritage to the startled boy. He took him under his wing shortly after that, offering to train him when he had the time available.

Taking on the moniker of Aqualad, he's just started getting his feet wet in the world of superheroism, doing his best to put his powers to good use. He's got a ways to go, but at least he has some help.

Abilities

Power: Hydrokinesis (7/5)

Aqualad can control water, shape it into constructs, move it around, change its pressure, and direct it's flow. He can 'harden' water constructs such as weapons, armor, or platforms to make them completely or partially solid.

NOTE:Though he can perform his Hydrokinesis ability naturally, Aqualad's waterbearers improve his ability significantly. Without their use the finesses and power of his hydrokinetic ability is lowered to 5.

Relic: Water Bearers (*)
Part of Aqualad's heritage, two hilts that provide focus for hydrokinesis and the creation of water constructs. They provide a significant aid to a hydrokinetic.

Power: Combat (6)
Aqualad has been trained by Aquaman in the use of his powers, specifically his hard water constructs. He's able to use a wide variety of weapons, most of them those that he's created on the fly with his hydrokinetic ability.

Power: Electric Discharge (4)
Much like an eel Aqualad is able to discharge bio-electric energy through his skin. He's able to channel it through his own constructs and any water he can touch, and suffers no harm from doing so.

Power: Swimming (2)
Equiped with webbed hands and feet that become active when touching water, Aqualad is able to swim at inhumanly fast speeds, and navigate in water in ways that few others can. He gives fish a run for their money, and regular humans don't stand a chance.

Power: Water Breathing (*)
He has gills. This makes being underwater kind of easy.

Advantages

Advantage: Strategist

Despite lack of any formal training Jackson is an exceptional planner. When it comes to cooking up strategies and battlefield tactics he seems to be a gifted natural.

Flaws

Flaw: Parent's Just Don't Understand

Jackson's dad happens to be Black Manta, a well-known villain that's dead-set on killing his mentor and has stated in no uncertain terms that he intends to gut Jackson like the fishy man he is. In addition to being hunted by his father, the mere lineage may cause some to doubt Jackson's ability and loyalties to his cause.
