Orphaned after a plane crash, Scott Summers was taken in by Charles Xavier who believed in his potential. Scott worked hard at his second chance at life and fulfilled Xavier's expectations. He is the field leader of the X-Men and a devotee of Xavier's vision for mutant relations for the world.
"You people are in a world of trouble." "Well that's the world we come from."
Scott Summers was born to Christopher and Katherine Summers in Anchorage, Alaska. Later, the family welcomed the addition of a second Summers son, Alex. They moved often due to Christopher's life as a test pilot for the United States Air Force. One of the favorite activities was setting out in Christopher's private plane. On their last journey as a family, Scott awoke on the plane to a large bang of screeching metal and the immense heat of fire. His last memory of the event was his father pushing a parachute into the arms of him and his brother to share. Though he has forgotten, the parachute carrying Alex and Scott caught fire and plummeted to the earth. Scott hit his head in the landing and was knocked unconscious. Luckily for Scott, he was kept alive by his brother until help arrived.
Scott was sent to the hospital, while Alex was placed in an orphanage after the brother's became wards of the state. After coming to and recovering in the hospital, Scott was sent to Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska. He suffered from major bouts of amnesia and spent his time there lonely, frustrated, and suffering often from intense headaches.
One day, while walking the streets of downtown Omaha after school, Scott suffered from one of the worst migraines he had to that point. He remembers looking at a crane at a construction site across the street, his vision turning bright red, and the crane exploding into a thousand pieces. As he turned his head, the destruction continued across to a parking garage. In a panic, Scott closed his eyes, and came to the realization that something was very, very wrong with him. He found his way into an alley, down, next go a garbage dumpster, and buried his face in his knees in despair. Suddenly a voice came into his head. "My name is Charles Xavier. Do not be afraid."
From age 16, Scott Summers has been a pupil of Professor Xavier. He has become a devoted student, extremely intent on seeing Xavier's dreams become a reality. A leader from a young age, Scott immersed himself in learning skills that would better his hopes of making mutant peace a reality. He took the name Cyclops, and was fashioned a special visor and special glasses that allow him to see without creating destruction. In Xavier he has found a father figure; in the X-men he has found a calling.
Power:Optic Blast (8)
Scott Summers emits a continuous and powerful blast of "concussive force" each and every time he opens his eyes. The force is not precisely heat and not precisely light, but is extremely powerful. It is red in color, and the young man must wear a specially made pair of ruby glasses or a visor to prevent the power from escaping. As result, Scott sees everything in a red hue.
Limitations: Uncontrollable without specially made visor. Needs special ruby quartz glasses to maintain a normal lifestyle. Highly destructive power and prone to accident.
The bonus of this advantage is already included in his ability scores.. Education: Scott graduated from Empire State University where he studied Education with minors in History and Physics. Though overshadowed by others within the school when it comes to studies, Scott considers himself an educated person.
The bonus of this advantage is already included in his ability scores.. Training: Scott has spent countless hours in training during his years at the Xavier Institute. He's trained his body in the depths of the Danger Room where he still pushes himself to his personal limits. He's also trained himself academically. When times get difficult, Scott knows he can rely on his training and feel safe that often times he's more prepared than his foes.
The bonus of this advantage is already included in his ability scores.. As the field leader of the X-men, Scott has access to all sorts of equipment. Vehicles, tools for reconnaissance and intelligence, training simulators, room and board, research materials, as well as all of the students who attend the InstituteThe possibilities are vast.
Without visor or glasses, the Optic Blast can cause massive damage. If lost in battle, Cyclops must roll a 10 sided die, where the numbers indicate the amount of allies. If the die rolled is higher than the number of allies, the attack does not need to be avoided. If it is lower, he inadvertently attacks the ally based on the number rolled and the numbers given in alphabetical order. Scott's power is uncontrollable by any other means but closing his eyes, or protecting his surroundings with ruby quartz, modified in some fashion. If control his lost, Cyclops destroys much of what he can see within his field of vision.
Scott still feels guilty regarding the original accident where his powers manifested themselves. The accident resulted in the deaths of six people while 14 others went to the hospital. Their deaths weigh heavily on Scott's mind.
Scott's entire persona is devoted to making Professor Xavier's dream a reality. Scott often sees the world in black and white, and is unwilling to bend or compromise. This leads him to be more of a divisive person than a leader who unites. He can often rub people the wrong way and can create irritation.
