Background
Slade Wilson was raised all across North America, traveling with his father from city to city because the man was a failed criminal who always ended up owing the wrong people. In fact, it was one such debt that resulted in Slade's father actually trading him to one of his debtors in exchange for the slate being wiped clean. A terrible father, yes, but some people have them. He was raised in the Mob, working in kitchens and running errands until he was old enough to leave town himself and try to make a living in the United States Army.
Well, in truth, Slade wasn't old enough. He was sixteen and he lied about his age, enlisting and winding up on the battlefields of Korea. He served with distinction, becoming something of a hero and it wasn't long before he was commissioned as an officer. By the time he was a Major and serving at Camp Washington, Slade Wilson was a legend in the armed forces - known for his incredible combative ability. In fact, that was the reason he was brought to Camp Washington.
Under the supervision of one of the most skilled combatant in the military, Captain Adeline Kane, Slade honed to an incredible degree. He graduated her program with flying colors and, soon after, they began a relationship. Slade married Adeline, was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and shipped out to Vietnam when LBJ escalated the conflict.
Slade's first son, Grant, was born while he was in Vietnam. His second, Joseph, after he returned and opted to undergo a medical experiment designed to stimulate his adrenal gland. The experiment didn't go as planned and Slade fell into a coma with the doctors believing that he would not recover full mobility nor all his mental faculties. They were wrong, however, and Slade came out of it stronger than ever. His powers fluctuated up and down, ranging from superhuman to barely above normal.
It was during this period of flux that Slade learned an old friend from his Korean War days, Major Wintergreen, had been captured by the Vietcong. Slade defied orders and traveled to Vietnam, rescuing Wintergreen but winding up discharged from the service for his actions. Slade lived for battle but he no longer had a battle to fight, ending up listless and bitter.
But soon he found what he had been missing, becoming a big game hunter. He did well. He earned a small fortune leading the wealthy on truly thrilling hunts. He had a nice house, he threw lavish parties and he seemed happy. Little did his wife and children know that he had taken to working as an assassin under the alias of Deathstroke the Terminator. In fact, Adeline did not discover this until a group of armed mercenaries kidnapped Joseph in an attempt to blackmail Slade.
Too proud to simply tell the mercenaries what they wanted to know, Deathstroke traveled to meet them. During the meeting, Slade was able to kill the mercenaries holding a knife to his son's throat but not before he was rendered mute by the blade. Adeline was furious and, feeling she could never be safe as long as Slade was alive, tried to kill him. She failed, resulting in Slade losing his left eye and divorcing his wife.
It wasn't long after his divorce that Slade met Lillian Worth, beginning a love affair with her that resulted in the birth of a daughter named Rose. Worth did not want the child to be harmed by Slade's reputation, however, and kept her a secret from him. Soon after their relationship ended and Slade went on without ever knowing that he had a daughter.
Slade still operates as Deathstroke the Terminator, widely considered the greatest assassin in the world.

Abilities
Power: Advanced Physiology
During his army days, Slade underwent a medical experiment that exposed him to an experimental adrenocorticotropic hormone. During the experiment, Slade lapsed into a coma and it was believed that he would not recover. However, he /did/ recover and soon after developed abilities far beyond those of normal humans. Almost every physical and mental aspect of Slade was enhanced at a genetic level, creating an entirely new man and, as he puts it, a 'killing machine'. These genetic alterations were also passed on to some of his offspring, making metahumans of the Wilson children.

Arsenal: Armory (1-5)
Deathstroke uses firearms and rather than buy what he needs and discard it when he's done, he instead maintains an arsenal of weapons calibrated to his personal use. The majority of the guns in his personal armory are infantry weapons ranging from rifles to machine guns, though he also keeps rockets and varying grades of explosives for when such things are necessary. His stashes of weaponry are located all over the globe and if he is visiting a location without one he has his methods for getting his equipment shipped ahead of him.
Whenever he's out in uniform, Deathstroke always keeps two automatic pistols on his person regardless of the mission or the situation. Capable of being set to both single shot and multi-round burst settings, the pistols are often a quick and efficient way of eliminating threats that don't require the more focused attention of other weapons in his arsenal.
|
Arsenal: Broadsword (2/5)
Deathstroke's favored weapon is a broadsword forged from promethium. Not just any promethium, but promethium in it's active (or 'volatile') state. In this state, the rare metal is nigh-unbreakable as well as capable of absorbing and redirecting incredible amounts of energy. The promethium in the blade also produces an effect known for triggering latent mutant and metagenes over prolonged periods. Howver, this mutagenic effect is resisted by Slade's regenerative healing factor and as such he has nothing to fear from his preferred weapon.
Thanks to the volatile promethium in the blade, Deathstroke is able to use his sword to deflect and even absorb energy-based attacks. While he must still act fast enough to actually put his sword between himself and such a blast, the sword is an effective line of defense. Not to mention that promethium humming with all the heat of a military-grade laser can slice through even toughened steel like a hot knife through butter.
The above statistics refer to the sword in both it's 'uncharged' and 'charged' state, and in general the weapon sports a toughness rating of 9.
|
Power: Intellect
While Slade was in a coma following the experiment that granted him his abilities, his brain re-wired itself and grew far more efficient. His capacity for retaining, sorting and processing information became nine times that of a normal man, turning his brain into an extremely capable computer. Slade chooses not to apply his superior brain toward scientific advancement or technological developments, though. Instead, he has honed it into another weapon in his arsenal.
Thanks to his advanced cognitive abilities, Slade is able to problem solve at a rapid rate. He can look at a combat situation, run through the most likely chains of events depending on his actions and then act accordingly. It enables him to calculate distance, space and speed with the utmost efficiency, meaning that shots which take most snipers hours to line up can be managed in a handful of seconds. He also has a perfect memory, though only for events after his transformation.
|
Skill: Marksmanship (7)
Deathstroke prefers to get up close and personal with his targets but what kind of assassin would he be if he had no skill with a gun? He has many years of military training in all manner of firearms and his enhanced senses grant him an accuracy that even the most skilled marksmen in the world would envy. As well as being able to fire most weapons with pinpoint accuracy, Slade is also practiced in field stripping, cleaning and reassembling hundreds of different makes and models. Not only is this useful for maintaining his own personal arsenal, but it also makes disarming an opponent simple and effective.
|
Skill: Martial Arts (9)
Even as a young man earning his stripes in the military, Slade Wilson was an exceptional hand-to-hand combatant. By the time he was assigned to Camp Washington in the early 60s he was a legend. After he completed his training with Natas, he was quite possibly one of the greatest martial artists on the face of the Earth. His skills have been improved and honed with years of practice, making him a match for even the most accomplished and well-trained fighters.
In his youth, Slade learned to fight to stay alive. After your father sells you to a gangster, you need to learn to get useful quickly. In the Army he honed his natural aggressiveness, becoming a master practitioner of CQC (Close Quarters Combat) and boxing, eventually moving to Camp Washington and broadening his horizons. On his own he became a master of a host of eastern martial arts, amalgamating them all into his own, effective style. Even unarmed, Deathstroke is counted amongst the most deadly individuals in the world.
At this point his encyclopedic knowledge of hand-to-hand combat encompasses dozens of forms from around the world. Able to act with brutal offense when he needs to or simply turn his opponent's attacks against him, he has developed a combat methodology for almost every conceivable situation.
|
Power: Reflexes
In order to cope with his enhanced speed thanks to his altered musculature, Slade's reflexes have also been improved. His brain reacts far faster than normal, allowing him to move with such speed and grace that he can dodge bullets and catch arrows out of the air if he has the mind to. This makes it difficult for even the most highly-trained combatants to lay a hand on Deathstroke, though it is by no means impossible.
His reflexes also trade to his acrobatic ability, meaning that things such as tumbles, flips and traversing rooftops like a seasoned parkour master are of little consequence to him. There's not much need for such things outside of combat, but it helps to be able to scale most surfaces due to his exceptional agility and acrobatic prowess.
|
Healing: Regeneration (4)
Slade's altered physiology grants him an advanced healing factor, allowing him to recover relatively quickly from wounds that would kill a normal man. Gunshots and stabbing wounds usually clear up in a day or two with some moderate attention and broken bones, once set, knit back together in a week. Fatal wounds might take much longer, ranging from weeks to months, but in the end he usually comes back just as healthy as ever. Slade's healing factor also allows him resistance to things such as the mutagenic properties of promethium.
The healing factor has it's limits, though. For example, lost appendages do not grow back. His lost eye will never grow back, even though it was lost after he gained his abilities. If his arm or leg were lopped off then he'd have to invest in a prosthetic because they won't be coming back. There's also the added bonus of his aging being slowed, meaning he will have a longer life than most if it is not ended unnaturally.
|
Power: Senses
Slade's senses were already well-honed before the experiment that changed him and since then they have only become moreso. He notices things that others simply do not, able to pick up on minute changes in his surroundings with ease. He can see further than most, his hearing picks up on things just beyond the human range and he can even track someone (or something) by their scent if need be.
It's important to realize that his senses are beyond those of a human but he can only see what is physically possible to see. For example, total darkness (the complete absence of light) is just as black to him as it is to anybody else. His senses do not cover the entire range, meaning that there are some scents too weak for him to notice and some sounds too quiet to be heard.
|
Arsenal: Staff (1/5)
When close combat won't cut it and the finesse of a firearm is not needed, Deathstroke utilizes a bo staff constructed from volatile promethium. The staff contains minute circuitry that allows the wielder to trigger a chain reaction within the promethium, causing it to fire a burst of energy from the end. Given the near-indestructible nation of the metal, this makes the staff both an effective melee weapon and a powerful ranged weapon all wrapped up in one neat package.
Given that this form of promethium generates energy, Slade has no need to recharge the staff. If he generates too much energy with it, however, it can temporarily burn out and could take several hours to get itself back to optimum functionality. The staff is Deathstroke's preferred non-lethal solution given it's versatility.
The above statistics refer to the staff's melee use and the ranged function, and in general the weapon sports a toughness rating of 9.
|
Power: Stamina
In order to keep up with his other enhanced abilities, Slade's altered physiology has also developed improved stamina. Now, he is able to operate on a fraction of the sleep a normal human being needs and exert himself well beyond the point of exhaustion in most people. His system also processes oxygen much more efficiently, allowing him to hold his breath for oven ten minutes (though exertion during this time would probably not be advised).
|
Power: Strength
Slade's strength has been enhanced, making him stronger than ten men and capable of operating at (and occasionally beyond) the peak strength of a human being with little trouble. He can break bones like most men would snap a twig and he strikes with enough force to cause serious internal injury if he wishes to. Thankfully, Slade has been in possession of this for many years and has learned to control it with such finesse that he no longer causes damage simply by misjudging his own strength.
His strength is not only reflected in how much he can lift and exert, but also in other matters of his physicality. For example, he is capable of leaping much higher than most and his running speed is beyond that of even an Olympic gold medal athlete (30 miles per hour) simply due to much more advanced leg muscles.
|
Skill: Swordsmanship (8)
Fighting with ones fists and feet is all well and good, but a sword bears a special elegance that Slade cannot help but appreciate and he has long adopted it as Deathstroke's 'trademark' of sorts. He's capable of using a blade with brutal efficiency, able to kill, incapacitate or simply wound to get a message across depending on his intent. Where many would simply swing a sword and hope for results, Slade knows what will happen and uses his weapon with all the precision of the most steady-handed neurosurgeon.
Though his preferred weapon is a broadsword, Slade would not be who he is if he had not studied a variety of different edged weapons. As well as his typical style, he's mastered the two bladed 'Florentine style' and the art of fencing with a thin-bladed rapier. His training with Natas also involved the study of Japanese (Kenjutsu and Iaido), Filipino (Eskrima), Chinese (Shuangdo) and Korean (Kumdo) arts.
|
Profession: Tactical Analysis (9)
Slade is, quite possibly, the greatest tactician in the world. His brain is, for all intents and purposes, an advanced computer and he has served on battlefields for decades. A short period of studying an opponent grants him great insight, allowing him to (often accurately) predict their actions and react accordingly. He is often operating several steps ahead of his opponent, making sure all the pieces are in place before acting.
This is Slade's primary way of handling metahumans or those more skilled than him. Rather than attempt to match them on their own terms, he instead examines them. He discovers their weaknesses so he can exploit them. This means that even the strongest, most godly heroes have something to fear in Deathstroke the Terminator.
|
Armor: Uniform (4)
Slade Wilson learned early on that if his enemies knew his identity then he would be putting himself and others at risk. He also learned that his assassin identity should be something different from himself, something that would terrify and be instantly recognizable. To that end, when Slade puts on his uniform he becomes Deathstroke the Terminator.
Comprised of a kevlar and depleted promethium mesh, Deathstroke's uniform is easily capable of withstanding small arms fire and turning aside most edged weapons. The mask consists of only one eye hole, given that Slade only needs one, and the rest of the uniform has been tailored for combat efficiency. Built to be modular, Slade is able to add holsters for different weaponry and equipment as he needs it.
|
Advantages
Advantage: Contacts
Slade doesn't forget a face and sometimes his own intuition is just not good enough to get a contract completed. To this end, he's developed a network of contacts all over the world. These range from the movers and shakers (politicians and the financial elite) to common criminals, all of whom being available for him to call on to a degree if he needs to. Slade doesn't like to rely too much on others, of course, but he knows how to use his sources when the need arises.
|
Advantage: Resurrection
Thanks to his healing factor, Slade's body is capable of rebooting itself even after it is killed. This isn't guaranteed, of course, and he avoids being killed in the same way that everyone else does. However, it does happen from time to time and his advanced physiology has developed a way to fight against it. Generally he will appear dead for a while and then his body will slowly repair itself, eventually kicking itself back into a living state and leaving him temporarily insane. There is no exact science to this, though and he isn't likely to come back from a truly final death like being dismembered or disintegrated.
|
Advantage: Toxin Resistance
Slade's advanced healing factor and stamina has also granted him a resistance to most poisons, toxins and diseases. For example, it is unlikely that any but the most potent drugs will affect him and disease is not something that concerns him. Though something like tear gas may irritate him he is far from debilitated by it. If someone wishes to kill him, they're going to need to do it the old fashioned way.
|
Advantage: Wealth
In all his years, Deathstroke has not failed an assignment. If somebody asks him to kill someone, then that person will be dead. Skill like this does not come cheap, however, and those who wish to purchase his services pay a high price indeed. This has allowed Slade to live a very comfortable life, able to afford almost anything he needs. He has safe houses across the globe, a private jet to come and go surreptitiously and even a helicopter for infiltration over difficult terrain.
Most of this money is managed by Wintergreen, though Slade has access to all of it. He keeps bank accounts around the world, his fortune split up and under numerous assumed identities so as to avoid it being traced. He likes some of the finer things in life and whether traveling or taking up residence somewhere, he does it in style.
|
Advantage: Wintergreen
Major William Randolph Wintergreen, British Army (Retired), is Slade's oldest friend and, for lack of a better word, his assistant. Slade rescued Wintergreen from the jungles of Vietnam and, feeling he owed him, the man later joined Slade in his career as an assassin. Though age has worn Wintergreen a bit and the man is not as young as he used to be, he's still a skilled soldier in his own right.
Wintergreen's true value, however, is in his ability to handle the administrative side of Deathstroke. He balances the books, makes the arrangements and generally sees to it that everything is in place for Deathstroke when he is out on assignment. He's also a moral compass, keeping Slade honest (to a point) and acting as a sounding wall at times. He also keeps a journal of Slade's doings (not that Slade is aware of this).
|
Flaws
Flaw: Code of Honor
Slade's word is his bond. When he takes a contract he will complete it and there is scarcely a force that will stop him from doing so. As much as it could help him at times, he also refuses to give out the names of those whom he takes contracts from and will maintain client privilege until the bitter end. The extent to which he will take this was tested when he allowed his own son's throat to be slit rather than divulge the identity of one of his clients.
The flip side of that code means that Slade will not always take a contract, even if it would be extremely lucrative. He only takes contracts that he believes have worth, meaning that he will not kill someone who he does not believe deserves to die. It leads to him changing sides from time to time, making it difficult to peg him as a 'hero' or 'villain'.
|
Flaw: Cyclops
After his son's throat was slit, Slade's ex-wife attempted to kill him. He was quick enough to avoid death but not quick enough to avoid having his eye shot out. Even his enhanced healing factor could not fix that and so he now operates with one eye. He's good enough that he does not need it and he openly flaunts this perceived 'weakness' by having no eye hole on the right side of his mask. Still, despite all his super senses and his heightened awareness he still has a blind spot there. It can be used against him, though it would take phenomenal skill to do so.
|
Flaw: Enemies
For every client who is pleased that Deathstroke has taken care of a problem for him, there are a number of others who are mourning a death. At any one time there are usually a dozen bounties and contracts out on Deathstroke's head, usually for a pretty sum of money. Most of the world's contract killers are not stupid enough to try and cash in, however. That being said, there are still people out there who would gladly give almost everything they have to be the one who can say they terminated the Terminator.
|
Flaw: Family
Slade Wilson may fancy himself a cold, unfeeling killing machine but that isn't the case. He's loved in the past and it has resulted in a number of children and exes around the world. He has two sons and a daughter, each of whom have either developed metahuman abilities of their own or through artificial enhancement. His relationship with them is complicated to say the least, but they are still a weapon with which to strike against him.
He also has an ex-wife and two old flames around the world. His ex-wife is not all that fond of him, having shot his eye out the last time they spoke, and his other partings were under similarly ugly circumstances. Simply put, Slade has a lot of people out there in the world who are close to him and could be used against him.
|
Flaw: Lazarus Syndrome
Slade's healing factor has allowed him to come back from the dead in the past. He's seemed dead and then, later, begun to heal and woken up. This may seem like a great perk but it comes with a price. Whenever Slade returns from the dead like this he suffers a period of insanity and an inability to rationalize, reason or even speak. He's little more than an animal in that regard, his brain taking the time to repair neural pathways and bring him back to normal. It only lasts a few days but it can be disorienting to wake up naked in a field and have your last memory be getting shot to death.
|
Flaw: Living for Battle
Slade Wilson lives for battle. When he was discharged from the army, he took up big game hunting and eventually found his way to being an assassin. He cannot simply sit back and rest on his laurels. He thrives on the thrill of combat and without it he grows restless and bitter. Even though he could retire off his accumulated wealth and live on a tropical island for the rest of his many, many days he will never be able to do that. He must fight. And one day that is going to be the end of him.
