Background

Jamie, unlike many mutants, possessed his power at birth. His parents, nuclear physicists and rocket scientists were concerned. Friends of Charles Xavier, he suggested they move to some place isolated and rural to raise their boy, and so they chose to raise Jamie in Kansas. When he was thirteen a trio of freak tornadoes tore his home to shreds and killed his parents. For a few years afterward Jamie worked their entire farm by himself, surviving the only way he knew how. After a time Xavier offered him a place on his young new mutant team. Jamie declined, however he did take Xavier up on an offer to assist as a cutting edge genetics laboratory Xavier was linked with.

It was during that time studying with the lab that Jamie learned one very important thing about his powers. One day he didn't want to go in but wanted to have some fun instead. So he sent a dupe to work for him and he went out and did some well fun stuff. When he reabsorbed the dupe he realized the dupe had learned something new at the lab and Jamie now knew it. So he decided to send out more dupes to learn stuff for him. So they went and learned a lot of general knowledge things as much as they could anyway.

Once they had the knowledge Jamie decided he wanted to open up a detective agency because he loves Noir dang it. Realizing he needed money to do it, especially in New York where he wanted to go, he went on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Thanks to the absorbed knowledge and phoning a dupe, he won the money. He went to New York and of course started to learn some more things, even sending a dupe to Law School. Then he opened up his awesome new detective agency!

Abilities

Power: Multiplication (6)

Jamie possesses the power of self replication. His body, given enough energy, instantly creates a number of exact copies equal to the amount of force absorbed. These 'dupes' appear wearing and carrying all of the things Jamie himself was at the time, including weapons, clothing, keys, basically any small carryable item. The duplicates possess all of the skills and natural talents of the original and are entirely indistinguishable from the original. Jamie can create 50 dupes at this time.

Jamie can reabsorb any dupe within fifty feet of him though it's easiest when in physical contact. When doing so he gets the full benefit of the experiences they've had while on their own, the down side to this is that the longer they've been on their own and how much they've changed from Jamie Prime has a serious impact on how long it takes his brain to 'learn' what's been put inside it. At maximum this takes a 3 hour coma state while his brain adjusts, though that is an extreme rarity.

Power: Hive Mind (N/A)

All of Jamie's dupes are linked up to his mind, but that does not make them mindless automaton's. While able to function on their own and with free thought, they share some form of his link at all times. This gives them great advantages in battle, allowing for instantaneous silent communication, perfect synchronisty of action, and flawless teamwork.

Distance however is a factor. At around 10 miles or so the link becomes less intimate and more peripheral, less like telepathy and more like empathy. At extreme ranges it shows up more as background noise, often ignored and never specific. This is how the occasional dupe wanders off and lives a life of it's own.

Power: Immortality (2)

Jamie isn't actually immortal or unkillable, however he's harder to kill then one might think. In the event that Jamie Prime were to die, his 'essence' leaps the Hive Mind to the nearest duplicate and takes up residence. At least, that's what he thinks is what happens. Because they're all the same man, not even Jamie is certain of how this works nor does he care. In short, so long as there is a dupe within the 10 mile radius of the 'intimate Hive Mind' range, Jamie can't really die. He just takes up a new residence.

Skill: Shaolin Kung Fu (5)

When Jamie learned that he could send dupes out to learn for him he decided to take full advantage of that. After watching Enter the Dragon he sent one dupe to study Shaolin Kung Fu. That dupe spent years in a monastery learning the arts of the Shaolin. So on top of fighting he also learned some mediation techniques that have helped Jamie as well. Once the dupe got back Jamie absorbed all those skills so well he knows kung fu now!

Skill: Anatomy (3)

While he's not a doctor or anything, Jamie had a dupe audit an anatomy class. So he actually knows certain parts to hit and hurt a person, or well how to hurt someone that is holding him. One of those skills of his that he doesn't realize how useful it is until he actually needs it.

Skill: Detective (3)

Jamie is a detective he has his own little detective agency and everything. Most of it has been trial and error for him, as he learns everything trying to figure out how to do things himself. So he is only an okay detective for now. But well still learning more and more when he can!

Skill: Lawyer (2)

Even Jamie doesn't know why he did this one. But he actually sent a dupe to law school. The dupe passed and even went on to pass the Bar Exam as well. Since the dupe was doing everything under Jamie's name, it means that Jamie is now a real lawyer. While he doesn't actually practice that much, he can make the claims of attorney/client stuff for when he's talking to people.

Skill: Lockpicking (3)

One dupe spent some time studying with a locksmith. Because of that he learned how to pick a lot of normal locks. Will he be able to get into a highly secure building with special locks? Heck no. Will he be able to get into a normal apartment a house, you better believe it. Once again good when he needs to find stuff out about people, just break into their house.

Skill: Stealth (3)

Part of his shaolin training was the art of Stealth. Jamie is good enough that the normal people aren't going to see him. Obviously those trained to find people will notice him rather quickly. But the regular people he is hired to spy on and stuff like that, that usually don't know he's there.

Advantages

Advantage: Business

Jamie is the proud owner of his own business now. He runs his own Private Detective agency in New York. So far business is slow, but it's growing. He specializes in the weird, the unusual, or the down right hopeless causes.

Advantage: Contacts

Jamie has contacts among the X-Men, the genetics community, and as a private detective.

Advantage: Languages

Jamie fluently speaks German, Spanish, French, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, and Latin (thank you law school). He's less skilled with a spattering of others but finds what he knows seems to cover most bases. He's not yet learned to read or write Mandarin or Japanese, but he's literate in the others.

Advantage: Money

Jamie went on who wants to be a millionaire, and won! Sure he phoned himself as a friend and the hive mind helped him get the answers, but he wanted money dang it. So he used the money he won to help start his detective agency, and make the building in it a sort of home as well with a living area on the top floor. The rest he keeps in a few investments, that is a net for his dupes. When he needs to send one out to learn a skill for an extended period of time he sets up an account for them so they don't have to worry about income.

Advantage: Omni-Skill

Due to Jamie being able to re-absorb his dupes and his experiences, and some of them having lived independently of him for a few years before coming back, he can be considered to have a skill level of 2 (basic college) in any general skill or trade.

Advantage: Reputation

Jamie's built a strong rep as a detective for those who can't get help anywhere else. While maybe not the first call for people in trouble, he's never been known to back down from a friend (or Mutant) in need.

Advantage: Suit

Jamie was born with his powers, an extremely rare occurrence in the Mutant world. As an infant however he lacked control, and his parents, true geniuses, built for him a full body suit that absorbed energy and helped him control his cloning so that the simple act of walking didn't clone him with every step. Learned control has made the suit almost unnecessary, however being the only part of his parents left, Jamie still wears a more advanced version of the suit to this day. The shirt he wears contains 6 disks that absorb and store kinetic energy just as the full body suit did for him years ago. It's his version of a safety blanket.

Flaws

Flaw: Dupe Confusion

When Jamie reabsorbs his dupes, he gains their memories and experiences as if he himself had them. He sometimes gets confused about whether he lived an experience, or one of his dupes did. He can never be sure what was real for him, and what is a dupe memory.

Flaw: Dupe Death

Jamie is mentally connected to every one of his dupes, and they to each other in a great hive mind. The farther away they are the weaker this link becomes, but it's never /completely/ gone. If a dupe is on the other side of the world and dies, Jamie feels it's loss as an almost phantom pain, if one dies near him the mental backlash is enough to drop him in his tracks and disorient him for a time. These effects can be over come by adrenaline rushes and the like, as in a life or death fight, but nothing can over come the feed back of a large number of dupe deaths in close proximity. If there is to much feed back Jamie Prime will fall unconscious.

Flaw: Enemies

Jamie's dupes have not all been angels. Some have done some bad things he's not even yet aware of. Until he reabsorbs them, if they've been far from him for a while, he may be surprised by some stranger coming to get some revenge on him.

Flaw: Rogue Dupes

Jamie runs the risk of having dupes go rogue on him. The longer they stay away the biggest chance they have to develop their own personalities and little quirks. Heck he can even have a dupe go evil and try and take over the master role or something. The more dupes Jamie creates the more the chance he will make one of those rogue ones as well.

Flaw: Unplanned Duping

If Jamie isn't mentally prepared for a kinetic impact, he dupes involuntarily.

Flaw: Whiny

Jamie may be a bit to existential for his own good, the nature of his power, of there being so many 'hims' tends to worm it's way into his psyche and cause issues. He's filled with self doubt and a lack of confidence, until the shit hits the fan and then he does what needs doing; he has a tendency to wallow in self pity and angst, until he's needed and then he steps up to the plate. In the end he tends to come through, but being his friend isn't easy because he's hard to deal with from time to time... he's a bit of a whiner.
