Imra Ardeen a.k.a. Saturn Girl, is a hero out of time. Originally from the 31st century, and the moon of Saturn known as Titan, Imra is one of the most powerful telepaths her people have produced in recent memory. Originally a Science Police Cadet, Imra along with two others, rescued the life of a rich individual. Imra and those others went on to form The Legion of Super-Heroes. Now stuck in this time, she is trying to find her place, if not a way back to where and when she belongs.

Gear: Costume (4)

While it looks like your standard superhero costume, Imras costume actually is made up of a a highly advanced material, making it almost a form of 'body armor'. In addition to being able to deflect or absorb some forms of attack that offers protection form things like guns, knives, and common non-military grade energy weapons from her time, but it also makes her harder to detect at range and provides some added protection against environmental extremes such cold and warmth.



Power: Telepathy (9)

To put it mildly, Imra is a telepath from a race of telepaths. To be more specific than that that, she is considered a prodigy, a tenth level telepath (on the scale of how her people measure such things) who is more powerful than most of her teachers were, and even some of her own people (including said teachers) are comfortable with. As such she can use her telepathy to do a number of things, including, but not limited to:

Telepathic Communication: Imra can talk to people mind to mind, even over great distances. Often when she does this it sounds like she is speaking in her own voice. She can also plant information in other peoples heads using this. And in turn using a combination of these methods can interpret languages that she may not already know. In addition she can apparently send and receive telepathic messages from The Phantom Zone.

Mind Reading: Imra can also read minds without having a two way conversation. While usually she does this with only sentient beings, she can at times pick up some things from non-sentient beings with higher intelligence.

Telepathic Defense: Imra can not only defend herself against telepathic intrusions, but she can also protect others who are close by from them. She can hide her presence from other psychics, and if need be block others from reading her thoughts. As well as that, she can hide the minds of others so they can not be easily detected, or as easily read.

Telepathic Illusions: Imra can make people see and hear things that are not there via her telepathy. These illusions though are not solid, and not perfect. They can be seen at times by people who are strong willed, are telepathic themselves, are trained to deal with telepaths and/or illusions, and the like.

Telepathic Camouflage: Imra can, using her skills with telepathic defense and illusions make herself and others appear to be other people and things at times, or even as if she and others are not there. This is not a perfect ability, and it has the same flaws and restrictions as her telepathic illusions.

Telepathic Manipulation: While she dislikes doing it, Imra can telepathically manipulate other peoples minds. At times this control can be so absolute that it is as if she is puppetting them, via controlling their thoughts and actions. She can also induce temporary mental or physical paralysis via this control, manipulate and erase memories, and even sedate them if need be.

Telepathic Detection: Imra can sense the presence of other minds. Most of the time she can determine if they are sentient without any effort, if they are human or not, and in the case of aliens even what kind of alien they are if she has encountered their species before.

Telepathic Blast: Imra can create and project what is best described as a blast of pure psionic force that often has no physical effects. Mentally though, the people hit with these blasts can experience anything ranging from pain, to unconsciousness, or even in some rare cases death, depending on how strong the blast is and what sort and strength of mentally defense's they have.



Skill: Athletics (3)

Due to extensive training and conditioning over years of time, not only since joining The Legion, but in her time with The Science Police, Imra can not only be considered athletic in a way that is slightly above the Human norm. As such her strength, toughness, endurance, and dexterity is comparable to a 'peak human'.



Skill: Combat (5)

As a Science Police Officer, Imra was already highly trained in close and ranged combat before actually joining The Legion. Since then her skill has increased due to experience as well as training she has received from other members of The Legion of Super-Heroes who are more experienced in various forms of combat.



Skill: Diplomat (7)

When it comes to mediation and diplomacy, Imra is a natural. She is known as one of the teams better diplomats, and a member of The Legion that is better with dealing with the press, but she often not only knows full well how to be a mediator both inside and outside of her team. While most of this skill does come from a certain amount of natural skill and experience, she also has learned quiet a deal over her lifetime from watching her mother in action (who is one of the United Planets foremost politicians). This skill is also very useful in cutting through red tape when need be.



Skill: Leadership (8)

While not the leader that other members of The Legion of Super-Heoes are, Imra does have an impressive amount of skill and experience leading The Legion, both as a whole, and in the form of smaller field teams. As such she is not only known as one of the teams better diplomats, was elected leader of the Legion in her own time and reality, where she was noted as being one of the the longest-running leaders who maintained that position.



Skill: Police Training (4)

Imra, before joining The Legion of Super-Heroes and becoming known as Saturn Girl had Science Police Training, specifically in interrogations. As such she not only has some training in physical and ranged combat that pre-dates her time as a Legionaire, but she also has some training in investigations and interrogations.



Skill: Quick Study (4)

Imra is naturally intelligent, and at times has been called one of the more intelligent members of The Legion of Super-Heroes. On Titan she has a reputation as an excellent student and as a very quick study.

Flaw: Control

This is an aspect of Imra that she is always trying to keep in check. That being that she on an unconscious level is always striving for a certain amount of order in her life for herself and for those around her. Thus at times she can come off as 'Iron Butt Ardeen' (aka a control freak) even under the best of circumstance. At worse, she has been known to use her telepathic abilities to influence those around her, often without meaning to (which is something she goes out of her way to avoid). And it is even possible that in some extreme circumstances that Imra could end up subconsciously trying to control others without meaning to. Or she can even go so far as to consciously try to influence others, usually via telepathic illusions if she feels that the other person(s) involved are too close to loosing it mentally, which if discovered could, and would cause a lot of tension between her and those around her.



Flaw: Mental Blocks

The raw ability that Imra has is so great that it worried some of her fellow Titans, including her own teachers. As such various mental blocks were installed in her head, without her knowledge, supposedly so assure a 'normal' development for her, and not to intimidate her fellow telepaths. And while these blocks have recently been destroyed, it is unclear if all of them have been destroyed. Worse it may be possible for other telepaths to reinstate these blocks without too much effort, against her will, thus cutting her off from a lot of her power, or if done right, possibly cutting her off from all of her telepathic abilities.



Flaw: Saturn Symbol

In her own time Imra was required to wear the symbol of the planet Saturn to indicate that she is a telepath from Titan. While in this time and place it might not mean as much, since few people besides other legionaires and possibly time travelers may recognize it, and be able to tell others what it means, this is still something that has become so much a part of her that she usually can not even consider not wearing something that somehow displays that symbol for all to see.



Flaw: Unusual Minds

If a mind is too unusual in an extreme way, such as with a conflicted composite being, a truly cosmic being, or an individual that is insane, Imra can find herself overwhelmed. At best once detected she will try to keep any and all interaction with said mind to a minimum. If forced to interact with it either for an extended period of time, or too directly, she can, and often does have negative reactions. These reactions can range from massive, often debilitating headaches, to catatonia. It is even possible for worse effects to happen to her, including possibly death under the right circumstances.

History[]

  • Imra Ardeen was born on Saturns moon of Titan. Like almost every member of her species, she was born a telepath.
  • Growing up, she spent a lot of time around various diplomats due to the fact that her mother was one of The United Planets (a coalition that of planets that Titan was a member of).
  • Also, though she did not know it, she showed signs early on that her telepathic abilities were far beyond those of her peers. Thus various mental blocks were installed, supposedly to help assure a 'normal' development.
  • While on a transport to Earth she and two other teens with powers saved the life of a rich individual who had been the target of an assassination attempt.
  • This person used his money and political pull to help the trio of teens for The Legion of Super-Heroes.
  • During this time she and her team mates had multiple adventures, including helping the extremist group, The White Triangle Daxamites, fighting The Fatal Five among others.
  • In the aftermath of one fight against The Emerald Eye of Ekron, she and a bunch of her team mates were transported to the 21st century for a bit.
  • While fighting in the past another telepath discovered her mental barriers and destroyed them, unleashing her full powers.
  • Not too long after their return to their own time, Imra was elected Legion Leader.
  • After another series of adventures there was a series of events involving such threats as The Blight Invasion, where the United Planets nearly collapsed, and a group of Legionaires including Imra were presumed dead, and The Legion disbanded.
  • In actuality the Legionaires who were presumed dead were actually transported to another galaxy.
  • After fighting one of their own team mates who went crazy with power, who also killed a couple of their team mates including one of Imras fellow founders, the rest of the 'Lost' Legionaires entered what was suppose to be a portal back to their own Galaxy.
  • Instead, somehow, Imra ended up here, and now... In what is to her, the past, on Earth...
