There is no such a system that is absolute proof of being hacked.
Never send a boy to do a woman's job.
We live in glass houses. If someone throws stones, I am just the one who points at them.

Some people have no past. Others are lost in the system. Jane is both - and keeps getting lost as something corrupts the files. Noone knows her real name, noone seems to search for her. But who is the amnesic Cyberpath?

Abilities

Arsenal: Arsenal (2)

Her equipment contains some modern versions of the blunt Kobujutsu weaponry. Most prominent is a quarterstaff and a pair of tonfas, each modified to carry conducting plates along the striking surfaces and a set of high voltage batteries inside, allowing them to possibly paralyze an opponent by electric current.

Combat: Kobujutsu (4)

Even if she does not know who exactly trained her and when it did happen, she had trained extensively in Tokushinryu style Okinawan Kobudo. Her technique is worth a dan-grade in this style and she can handle most of the 'peasant weapons' used in it effectively. This includes various staffs, sai, tonfa, kama, nunchaku, brass knuckles, weighted chains.

Power: Binary Brain

AR: Training with her altered physiology allows her to perceive a cut down version of the Ghost in the Machine without going into trance as an Augmented Reality Overlay. This can aid greatly in tasks (like displaying camera feeds or shoing repair instuctions) as long as the available information and tools fit the task. However, the needed concentration for this type of interaction with data slows the it down to just a notch faster than mundane input speeds.

G.I.T.M.: Ghost In The Machine--If she uses all her concentration she can enter a trance stance in which she literally 'jumps into a machine' and witnesses all data and processes as a representation similar to a self generated virtual world. While this is incredibly fast and allows her to ignore the need of utilities to access data and devices, it needs a very fast connection, meaning usually either a physical connection to her brain with electrodes or the access to the device or network itself with her Bioelectric Field. In this state her memories and mind form a 'pocket' or 'harbor' in the Cyberspace, resembling a virtual reality which follows its very own rules. As strictly digital mind in this state, her presence in a machine can usually not be detected with mental powers.

Danger: This method has the inherent danger of leavings her vulnerable as her body is left unconscious and she is not able to perceive the outside doing so. Furthermore, while in the machine, she is vulnerable to power outs, which can result in nausea at best or serious trauma if she is jacked out.

Limit: Her memory is not eidetic and so does not to provide storage for files and utilities in their digital form. The best she can remember is their contents if they are not encrypted or some passages.

With concentration her Brain is able to interpret and emulate raw binary and machine code a in a way so she can forgo the need for normal interfaces utilities. This allows her to use her computers skill in ways others can't normally use and to understand non-encrypted radio signals she can witness by any means. If she has a direct access between her nerves and a device (such as it is granted via her Bioelectric Field) she can use this to access and work with the device forgoing physical entry or monitoring device on digital machines. Strictly analogue devices can't get exploited this way.

Power: Bioelectronic Field

Range: Touch for non wireless devices, 20 meters unobstructed for wireless or radio devices when sending. Feeling and listening to a frequency is limited by the sending device's power. Repeaters (such as a Radio tower) or Networks of devices (such as the Internet) can reroute her signal to other devices those are connected to.

Limit: If the electromagnetic fields in an area are messed up or scrambled, it also inhibits her usage of wireless signals. Also the lack of any "white noise" on frequencies (such as in very rural areas) is nauseating and unsettling to her.

Her neurophysiology is not ordinary, making her highly sensitive to the shift of Electromagnetic fields around her. This not only lets her feel wireless networks and broadcasts of radio and television in her area, but allows her to actually feel the traffic in close proximity of the wireless networks around her. Although her whole body works as an antenna for signals and she can filter the static to a thin bandwidth such as a specific network, it does not turn binary data into coherent information, nor does it grant her understanding for what a wave modulated signal such as a radio broadcast contains. However she can send wave modulated signals and binary data herself, allowing her to act as a repeater or use it to send Morse on a short distance.

Only in combination with Binary Brain she can access wireless devices within a wireless network she can feel and communicate with them on a higher level than on/off.
Direct physical contact to an electric device enables her to feel and manipulate the signals in them.

Power: Scarred Mind (4/5/6)

Perception 5: Searching flaws in uniform code are a very taxing task for the perceptive abilities of people. Although the ability to find details originally derives from the work with code, the pattern recognition also augments her mundane perception to borderline.

Intellect 4: While she may not compete against masterminds and superhuman, she is definitely a genious in common terms and able to comprehend very abstract information in a short timeframe.

Willpower 6: It is unclear if it is her unique brain physique or her amnesia, but the result is what matters: Her mind proves to be impenetrable to most basic psychic attacks and mind tricks and can become quite unsettling when someone attempts to read it in its full extent.

While her body is that of an average human, her mind is hardened from operating at the speed of information.

Skill: Athletics (4)

Her body is trained to a good degree and flexible, making her a skilled amateur sportswoman. She has not too much problems climbing with gear, running a 100 meter sprint in 15 second or jumping over an obstacle of 4 feet.

Skill: Computers (8)

Limit: She needs access to a running smart electronic device (for example computer, smartphone, tablet, car computer) to use the skill against any machine.

Duration: If the needed software for a task is no yet present in the storage of the used device, it takes her some time to extemporize an appropriate application. As a rule of thumb it takes her one minute to emulate one level of digital arsenal for a specific task and scene. These temporary apps can't get reused later. Writing a more permanent program takes at least one hour per point of emulated arsenal, but there is no upper time limit.

Hardware: For hardware purposes like fixing computers, building electronics, hotlining and overclocking chipboards, the skill level is to be considdered only a 6 instead. Also, instead of a programing utility or software, proper tools and components are needed.

She may not be on par with computer gods like Oracle or the Calculator on the hardware side, but her natural understanding of code does far offset that. With ease she can manipulate programming and create or modify new utilities and applets. 'Living' in the code makes her also quite adept to find backdoors and loopholes in existing software, as she can perceive them in an almost natural way.

Skill: Infiltration (3)

Somehow she had acquired her skills to bypass security devices before her amnesia and even if she is at best an ambitious amateur. Without too much trouble she can bypass basic locks and security emplacements as well as keep a low profile if needed to keep out of the field of vision of a not too perceptive person.

Advantages

Advantage: Computer Languages

Unlike normal humans Hackers have their own slang and language that marks them. Besides several styles of Netspeak and 1337 she is fluent with several common and less common computer and programming languages, including Ada, BASIC, C, C++, C#, Erlang, Haskall, HTML, Java, LISP, Oberon, Pascal, Perl, PHP, Scheme, Visual Basic and WLanguage.

Advantage: Equipment

She possesses just a limited equipment, all packed up in a duffelbag. Besides clothes and some other items of daily use it contains lightweight climbing gear, a thin full body suit (Zentai), a glass cutter & suction cup, several lock picks, a small set of electronic tools, a box of common electronic spare parts and digital storage. Besides this she has a custom built Laptop with excellent ratings and an extensive library on programming, coding and digital security as well as the proper code writing utilities and compilers for most computer languages. The Laptop runs a likewise custom OS.

Advantage: Hacker Scene

Having a strong affinity to digital anarchism and digital information, she has a natural feel for the hacker scene. This gives her a basic idea of the who is who and the Modus Operandi of the more renowned hackers and their memorable deeds as well as a good idea how to contact them.

Flaws

Flaw: Amnesia

She can't remember any details about her past before she woke up in the Gotham General. The memories are not just locked away; they are outright destroyed and can't get restored with medical, psychic or psychiatric means.

Flaw: EM Vulnerable

Her unique neurochemistry and brain physiology makes her vulnerable to strong and fast shifts in electromagnetic fields. Being in a MRT will result in nausea and disorientation as well as being not able to use any of her powers for some time, while an EMP will knock her unconscious and has the potential to inflict serious physical damage to her.

Flaw: Erased

All files on her former life have been totally erased and a very nasty and stealthy computer virus makes sure she stays in this state of digital nonexistence. She might have a blank slate through this, but it also means that she has no rights as a citizen of any country. Each file stored on a digital device that shows hints on her real identity is corrupted beyond repair or vanished from the computer systems completely. Also any new passports and IDs given out as a (transitional) replacement loses its backup in the databases and such gets rendered useless by the virus within a week after it have been given out. On a check with the corresponding Database such an ID will show up as forged.

Biometric and medical data stored by nongovernmental institutions on her vanishes even more quickly, losing its usability within 24 hours.
The destruction of data does not affect hardcopies. Also spared are files that are affixed just to a pseudonym she might have had or pick up, unless they contain biometric or medical content.
Due to being nonexistent in the digital system she can't have a regular bank account on her person, but nothing prevents her from having non-person bound accounts like Grand Cayman Island or Swiss number accounts.

Flaw: Moralic Bonds

Even if she does not feel obliged to follow the law, she has morals that she keeps. Her most valued good is personal freedom in the limits of Kant's categorical imperative, though she has a few small exceptions. So it is not an option to her to attack someone with the aim to maim or permanently harm him unless in self defense, and even then she will try to inflict minimum lasting damage. People who attack her first however will not get shown restraint against as they don't want it shown to them. On the other hand she feels herself in a world of dark grey and does not want to work for the government, bigger corporations or crime organizations for she deems all the same as threats to personal freedom and being corrupted in the core. According to the categorical imperative she is not willing to risk people that are not involved in the fray - however working for a corrupt organization makes a person involved to a degree that allows collateral damage on them.

History[]

The woman in question was born in California under the name of Jessica Richardson. She ended in foster care till her 12th birthday after her parents died in a car accident when she had been 10. Documents tell she had been adopted by an elder Japanese Woman, Sayuri Sakomoto, who had been living in Fair Oaks/Sacramento at that point. Just a few months later the two females left California for Japan, which resulted in the Case being closed.

In Japan there is just one mentioning of Jessica Richardson ever, on a naturalization form in Naha, after which her name changed to Jeshika Sakamoto to make it writeable in Japanese. Sayuri and the girl relocated to Urasoe in the Okinawa prefecture. Jeshika used to go to an American-Japanese school close to the USMC Camp Kinser there. During this time she attended a Tokushinryu style Dojo 4 days a week, using the entry 'Sakomoto Je.' in the training book. When she was around 15 she began attending the school's computers club, where some notes in the attendance book suggesting that she was a natural talent on the topic.

About two years later she applied to the Okinawa University of Arts for an electronics bachelor, however the notice of acceptance sent to her a year after application never had been used: In the mean time Sayuri Sakomoto had died, leaving the young adult with the task to bury her as her only known 'relative'. As they never had been rich, finances went tight very quickly and Jeshika had to borrow money from a local Yakuza. As she was unable to pay it back within the demanded months, the criminal pressed her to work for the crime syndicate to program malware to gather information and delete criminal files of their members as well as extort companies and put government officials under pressure. The deeper she was dragged into the pool of corruption, the more she wanted to escape, eventually programming one of her virus programs to delete everything on herself, waiting for the right moment to launch it to break free. As she came across an experimental 'reeducation drug' which was in research of one of the extorted companies, she acquired a couple of vials of it to erase her in the memories of her oppressors. Poisoning them with the drug she let her prepared virus loose with a 24 hour countdown, breaking bridges as she took a plane to Tokyo and from there to America. During flight her Virus started work. When she came off the plane she had just 2 things to do left: destroy the now useless passport on the airports toilet and take the single left over vial to forget about her being ever involved in the crime. The effects however exceeded her expectations as the substance wiped out most of her memory while initiating other neuronal changes that changed her neuronal physiology until it resembled a computer in some points.

Some hours later, about 18 Months after Sayuri's death, Jessica/Jeshika was found unconscious, without passport and memory on the toilet at the international arrivals gate of Gotham Airport, the video files of the day scrambled. In lack of a name and identity she had been given the name Jane Roe GC#354/2013 as noted in the police case as she was brought to Gotham Mercy. Three days later they let her go for none of the tests performed was able to show up any evidence on who she might be or what might have caused her amnesia and most of the tests send in to the lab did even go unanswered as the files were corrupted.

Diary

I am Jane Roe GC#354/2013. Where do I come from? I don't know.
Who am I? I have no answer for you there too.
To the law, I am not existent, and apparently never had. To the healthcare neither, hell they can't even KEEP files on me that are not a hardcopy it seems. All who remember me are people, and people don't remember too long here, at least not me. When I woke up with my head in bandages, the healthcare files on me had vanished from the hospital system. The nurse of that shift was somewhat shocked to see the bed occupied by someone who didn't even knew who she was herself - she simply was not informed by her pad that I was there. Who can possibly tell me who I am?

Apparently there are better questions than who a person is or where they come from. Like: What can you do?
That is a good question. I don't remember where I learned what I know and trained to do what I can do, but somehow I can virtually jump into a machine. I just found out by chance and I can't remember if I could do that before I lost my connection to my past, but hey, it's a start.

What do I know about my past? Nothing, nothing but one thing: I am likely not from Gotham. But why do I know that? I asked the paramedics. The driver has an eidetic memory it seems - he didn't even looked into his notes or files. He told me they found out they found me collapsed on a toilet at the international arrival gate.

For some reason they misplaced the recordings of the security camera that shows when I arrived at either the terminal or the hospital. Cute, isn't it? It's so similar to the misplaced health protocols.
I did fool around with the laptop a bit to try out this ability I had found out about yesterday. Damned, that thing has tons of free storage, a CPU of the top shelf and enough RAM to let it run a full stock diagnosis within half an hour! I checked. Still, it contained no clue where it or I came from. No ID file or etching on it, only a custom OS and software so well hidden that it must be darker than black in origin.

They kicked me out of the hospital. Three days have passed since I awoke and each shift began alike: they misplaced my files. Not exactly misplaced: the digital files first turned corrupt and then vanished. They said if they can't keep files on me to find out what is wrong with me I should leave. So I left. What do I want to do now with this blank page of life? I have no idea. Maybe I should just start somewhere. Just where? Maybe help a bit here and there? I can't do that for free sadly, as I did not found too much money in my pockets. So help for a price. Is fixing a paycheck to help a family too bad? No, it just hurts a corp' that does not deserve the money at first, it equals out social discrimination. Is setting up a website for someone bad? Nope, at least the government scum believes a website can't hurt someone. I couldn't find any credit card or bank account card in my few belongings, so I will need the money cash or on that empty Swiss Number Account that I can access with the key on the Laptop.

I tried to access the Missing People Database, but did not find anything untill this Batgirl showed up. I think Rule 30 applies, even if he claims not to be the Batman but Oracle. Kicked me out, demanded that I contackt 'her'... Bugger.

Bet some high class woman on the street, killed her 'christmas mood'. Called herself Selina Kyle, gave me her number. What is this stupid hiliday about at all? Senseless consume terror!

Met the Oracle guy again in his claimed database. Had to give up my test-file to see what happened to my case. Put that Oracle on the list of suspects responsible for my situation, but had to accept some meeting in person. Hopefully took the lie that it is just my client that will come, not me.

Met the Oracle in person in an abandoned subway station. Chances are that either she's female or he is crossdressing real life - or it's an AI. Claims still to be JLA, where he/she/it is reported, but no photo. Offered a safehouse, not sure if I want to take the offer.

Had a bad dream - or went to cyberspace in sleep? Kinda creepy. Called the number.

That Oracle arranged some sort of safehouse after talking to her. Pretty deep security there, ultra fast network. Decided to hide what I can from Oracle's buddy there.

Tried to bust some Inside trader, but then some Furry wearing a Latex mask like a bat showed up. Asshole almost beat the crap out of me, but backed away once he got that I had met Oracle. Had to give evidence to police before it was a solid case without backdoor. I hate that.

Oracle vanished, had to relocate with the hacker-girls buddy. Tried to trace what was left of the network, found it corrupted from within.

Met that Bat-furry again. Became angry when I made a lightshow onto the Amusement park and could only tell very little about the missing Oracle.

Went eating china today. Met a strange guy calling homself Logan, who said he knew me. He talked me into flying to Okinawa with him and I wonder how he managed to get me through the customs without getting stopped or showing a passport. Was a waste though, the old guy we visited there knew nothing.

Met the Logan guy again as I was taking a stop to recover from a white zone. I didn't thought going to the mountains would make me sick, and meeting a full school of muties was not what I thought about to happen.

O is Back. She fu***** messed with MY online game, but gonna make a trade with her: I dig for something about fishy robots, she gets me an industrial 3D Printer. Helloooo manufacturing of untraceable tools!

WTF? My online game was attacked by an AI or something. Hammer Industries product. And was teamed with that particlephysics genius, Hank Pym. Just for messing with his creators I made a deal... to play a bit WATCH_DOGS for him once.
