Former business partner to Howard Stark, and CEO of Stark International until Tony Turned 21. Still controls a large portion of SI stock after nearly a lifetime of diligent service.

All around nice guy, and father-figure for many who see him as perhaps the nicest Iron Monger in the business. In spite of cut-throat business decisions, and an overtly manipulative personality.

What the Iron monger lacks in shielding it makes up for in armor. Made from thickly plated advanced materials it is able to take a big beating, and keep running. While it does not have nearly as advanced a life support system as the latest Iron Man suit the Iron Monger does still have a full life support system on-board with ample oxygen supplies.

The Iron Monger's main weapons is a single charged repulsion beam concentrated and fired from the chest, it's much stronger then the ones used for general travel.

With advanced hydraulics, the Iron Monger can lift, and throw 50 tones.

Born from good stock Obi is a rather intelligent man.

An expert at the art of the sale, Obadiah, knows how to lock in a deal, and what it takes to properly run a company.

Stane is well respected in the world of weapons manufacturers and even in SI. There are a large number of employees within the SI who respect or admire him, who yearn for the days when he was head of the company.

Advantage: S.H.I.E.L.D

Stane is willing to supply weapons to anyone, S.H.I.E.L.D. included. This puts him in a rare position where he has more leverage in his activities.

Advantage: Sector 16

Completely off the grid Sector 16 was originally designed by Howard Stark in the 50's and forgotten about all together. It was left to rot, and forgotten after it was shut down due to a lack of proper funding. Now it's where Obadiah does most of his under the counter weapons research and distribution, far from prying eyes. It's also the storage location for the Iron Monger.

Obi owns a large amount of stock in several businesses Stark International being the largest.

While Obi no longer holds the keys to Stark Industries he's still made enough money in his lifetime to last several, and he plans on keeping it that way.

Flaws

Flaw: Bulky

For all of it's benefits the Iron Monger armor is very heavy, making it much more difficult to transport and causing a much greater power drain. It's also a lot more difficult to transport stealthily with no real way to disassemble the suit, and a full team required to equip the suit.

Flaw: Greed

Even with plenty of money already stashed away Obadiah almost always wants that little bit more even if he has to compromise to get it.

Flaw: Scarred

Obi suffers severe trauma from witnessing his fathers suicide. This can come in the form of nightmares, a detached personality, cruelty, and the occasional flashback.

History[]

Obadiah Stane is born to Zebediah Stane, a former weapons mogul who lost everything due to a gambling addiction after his wife died during childbirth.

Zebediah kills himself in front of Obi during a high stakes game of Russian roulette, while on a "lucky streak". The trauma completely shatters his innocence and causes him to go bald.

Obi is placed into foster care, where he finds himself unwanted due to his unhealthy appearance. He takes solace in chess, and maintaining the gun his father had used to kill himself.

Using the same gun Obi kills another boys dog so that he can win a chess match, and use the money to pay for his schooling.

Stane develops an overly kind and caring exterior, building himself up as trustworthy, only to abuse any trust given to him. With money gained this way he's able to pay his own way through collage getting just enough money for Stane Weapons Solutions to re-open its doors, for two weeks before being bought out by Stark International.

Stane works his way up the corporate ladder eventually becoming a business partner with Howard Stark himself.

When Howard Dies Obadiah is placed in temporary control of SI, his cut throat tactics leading the company to an all time high in profits stocks soaring through the roof. He makes deals with anyone and everyone selling Stark weapons under the table and over.

When Tony finally turns 21 Stane steps down from his position as president of SI, finding himself relegated to the position of chief financial officer, some calling it the end of an era.

Despite his lower position Obi continues to wheel and deal under the table exchanging a cut of the profits for silence and an old lab to work in on his own designs.

When Tony announces SI's move away from weapons Stane is placed in charge of damage control, given the herculean task of minimizing the drop in stock. Thanks to his efforts the stocks still drop dramatically but not as much as they could have. All the while he works on a way to copy Tony's fantastic suit, 'borrowing' a number of his blueprints, to be reworked and fabricated in Sector 16.
