Background
| Sebastian Shaw's mutant powers manifested shortly after he was accepted into engineering school and shortly before his father was killed in a bar brawl. His ability to absorb kinect energy via direct contact, and then repurpose that energy, allowing him to enhance his own strength or project the absorbed energy outward was not the kind of mutation that directly helped his studies like telepathy might have-- though it did give him an intrinsic understanding of some of the principles of high energy physics. Shaw was an excellent student both due to this understanding and through diligent work and lofty ambition and the drive that graduated him with honors also saw the formation of Shaw Industries, a successful engineering firm specializing in the applied energy industry.
As Shaw's successes in business drove him to higher levels of wealth, they also grew his sense of superiority, eventually reaching a point where Shaw began pursuing the goal of dominating the world through money, power and raw force. During this time, Shaw purchased the Hellfire Club, a gentleman's club for the social elite, with the intent of using it to manipulate powerful figures in the world. He also began to shift the focus of Shaw Industries into cleaner, higher-output energy technologies-- especially advanced infrastructure such as nuclear power plants and similar tech, using the company as an agreeable front for public consumption as well as furthering his own goals.

Abilities
Power: Energy Absorption (7)
Shaw's mutation allows him to absorb kinetic energy in all its forms and repurpose it. Absorbing impacts, explosives, most energy weapons and other expressions of kinetic energy allows him to withstand attacks that would normally do considerable damage with superficial results. The energy he absorbs then enhances his strength to superhuman levels porportional to the amount of energy absorbed.
NOTE: Shaw's mutation allows him to absorb kinetic energy in all its forms and repurpose it. Once Shaw has absorbed energy, he may optionally choose to expel it in a variety of destructive ways. This ability requires a measure of direct contact, though it is possible to, for instance, project a shockwave through the ground up to around 50 feet.
NOTE:Projecting energy expends Shaw's absorbed 'charges'(see Energy Absorption) in an equal amount to the rating used.
Skill: Engineering (6)
Shaw went to school for engineering, which is the knowledge on which he built his multi-national corporation. His specialty is not in designing new technologies, but in putting them to practical use, and in that area he is extremely gifted. Additionally, because of the nature of his mutation, he has an advantage in understanding energy physics in engineering applications.
Power: Regeneration (4)
Shaw's absorbed energy can be used for accelerated healing. This healing can recover from moderately severe injuries, but does not include healing from injuries that humans would not normally be capable of given enough time (such as limb regrowth, etc). This side-effect of his mutation also keeps Shaw appearing somewhat younger than he actually is.
NOTE: Healing any significant amount of damage requires Shaw expend all of his current energy charges (see Energy Absorption). He cannot accelerate healing without absorbed, and if he possess fewer than this power's rating, he can not heal at full rating.

Advantages
Advantage: Charismatic
Shaw is an excellent speaker and an accomplished orator who generally has an easy time winning people over once he begins plying his trade.
Advantage: Connected
Shaw's wealth, businesses and charisma have gained him many contacts to call on around the world, on both sides of the legal tracks. Exactly how willing these contacts are to do what he wants varies, but they are at least willing to take his calls, whether by interest or fear.
Advantage: Good Front
Shaw's public philanthropism and Shaw Industries' policy of pushing clean and/or sustainable energy production has resulted in a very positive public image that gives him a deniability in the eyes of the public where the less-savory aspects of his undertakings are concerned.
Advantage: Hellfire Club
The Hellfire Club is a 'gentleman's club', owned and operated by Shaw, that serves the social elite with entertainments found few other places. Shaw uses this exclusive club to manipulate and in some cases control important people in government, business and the military.
Advantage: Mastermind
While Shaw is not above-- and even enjoys-- getting his hands dirty, his wealth and contacts allow him to let others run the risks for him and insulate himself against legal consequence to a degree.
Advantage: Shaw Industries
Shaw Industries is a multinational engineering firm that Sebastian built from the ground up. As such, he has access to a large degree of wealth and resources. Shaw Industries specializes in manufacturing for the energy industry and is heavily invested in facilities and infrastructure.
Advantage: Wealth
Shaw's business dealings have made him a billionaire-- and reinvesting that capital keeps him wealthy independent of Shaw Industries or the Club's current status.

Flaws
Flaw: Energy Overload
Shaw's ability to absorb kinetic energy can be 'overloaded' by forcing him to absorb more kinetic energy in a short time than his mutation can handle-- most notably by striking him with heavy blows that he *can* absorb repeatedly and quickly. The effects of overloading his power range from dizziness and unconsciousness to, in extreme cases, rendering Shaw into a coma state. Absorbing a total of fourteen 'charges' in a single round from any number of sources (IE: 7+7 or 5+4+5) causes an overload.
Flaw: Megalomania
Shaw firmly believes that there is a class of people of which he is a part that is destined to be the ruling class in the world. He craves power and to prove superiority above the masses to a degree that it drives most of his true behaviour and goals.
Flaw: Monologue
Shaw loves the sound of his voice and getting the last word. Given proper stimulus, he will put himself at risk to correct what he sees as a misperception or prove himself the superior opponent.
Flaw: Psi-Vulnerable
Shaw possesses no inherent defenses against psionic attacks on his own, and is as susceptible to them as any baseline human would be. Additionally, while his use of his absorption power is reflexive, it is also a voluntary response-- it can be suppressed through telepathic blocks or unconsciousness, rendering him vulnerable.
Flaw: Public Figure
Shaw does not operate under a psuedonym, even though he works at a remove. As such, he is exposed to his enemies, and is vulnerable to the tide of public opinion.
Flaw: Superiority Complex
Some people think they're better than most everyone else. Shaw KNOWS it, and is not afraid to show it-- and rarely does he care what people think when he does. To his mind, he is the hero, whatever he does to achieve his goals.
Flaw: Supervillain
At the end of the day, whatever his reasons, Shaw is a villain and a criminal underneath it all, and much of what he built could well crumble were that exposed effectively.
Flaw: Two-Faced
As much as Shaw's public face is that of a charismatic philanthropist and industry leader, there are those for whom he is notoriously ruthless, brutal and manipulative. Within those circles, his charisma and assurances count for very little.
