Background

It is said that the evil criminal mastermind known as Fu Manchu fathered a son. A son that would be trained in every single form of martial arts known to man. A son that would be trained and taught the ways of a warrior. A son that would become his father's most trusted assassin. This son was to follow in the footsteps of his father and carry on the legacy that had come before him. He was to be an extension of the immortal perfection that Fu Manchu possessed.

This son did not fulfill his destiny.

Instead, upon finding out that his father was an evil man, the son rebelled against the father. He took those teachings and trainings that he had learned throughout his entire life and focused them into the sole purpose of stopping his father's vile plans at every turn. The son would no longer allow his father to continue his attempts at world domination. He would not allow his own flesh and blood to go unchecked.

The son spent many years, both alone and with others, fighting his father and searching for the one true thing that could bring him full circle: Peace. However, as the years went by, he learned that there was much to be done on his path of heroism. He would meet other heroes and fight alongside them. He would join various organizations in efforts to pool resources and vanquish his father once and for all. He would continue to hone his abilities.

The Father remains as vile and evil as he ever was. Still attempting to control the world.

The Son remains as vigilant and spirited as he ever was. Still opposing his father's attempts to control the world.

I am that son.

I am Shang-Chi.

Master of Kung Fu.

Advantage: Mind
Shang-Chi's mind works on a level that is beyond the scope of the normal human's brain. He is wise beyond his years, for one thing, which allows him to see and observe things more clearly than others. He is serene and calm, controlling his emotions rather than letting them have the control. Being of sound mind presents him with options that others may not see or even understand. This sets him apart from other heroes and helps him to be in a class all his own.

Advantage: Occupation
Shang-Chi is one of the more often used agents within the security and consulting firm known as Freelance Restorations. Privately owned and with no actual ties to anyone other than their clients, Freelance Restorations offers an affordable choice for those that need their special brand of assistance.

Advantage: Philosopher
Shang-Chi has taken to heart the teachings and philosophies that come with being a master of martial arts. He has extensive and vast knowledge of Oriental philosophy, due to that being his culture and heritage. He has also, though, taken to learning other facets of philosophical study. He is a man that is far more wise than he is intelligent and it is this wisdom that gives him a spiritual advantage over those that do not share the same beliefs or journey toward inner peace.

Advantage: Reputation
Shang-Chi is known as both one of the greatest martial artists in the world and as the son of one of the most vile crimelords in the world. Both of these reputations serve Shang-Chi very well in his travels and he will not hesitate to use them both to gain what is most important in any situation: Information.

Advantage: Spirit
Shang-Chi's spirit is perhaps his strongest asset. With a pure soul and heart, Shang-Chi is allowed to access his Chi without fail. This enables him to perform dramatic feats with ease and overcome obstacles that normal humans could not overcome. His spirit is strong and powerful and when used in the correct manner it can allow Shang-Chi to do the impossible.

Advantage: Visions
While in deep meditation, Shang-Chi is capable of receiving visions. They can foreshadow events or simply enlighten the Master of Kung Fu. Flaws

Flaw: Enemies

Shang-Chi has a host of enemies, besides his father, that he tends to cross paths with on a regular basis. They range from other family members to rivals of his own martial arts mastery to villains and criminals that he has assisted with the capture or defeat of. They may not all want him dead, but they tend to be very large obstacles on his journey.

Flaw: Father
Zheng Zu. Fu Manchu. He is known by many names, but his reputation is always the same. As the father to Shang-Chi, he exists to be an ever present thorn in his son's side. He also happens to be one of Shang-Chi's most recurring enemies. Oh and he's also Immortal.

Flaw: High Maintenance
Shang-Chi is in constant training to keep himself at the level that he is. Whether it is Martial Arts or just the training of his Mind, Body, and Spirit to be together as one on a regular basis. This takes time and energy and focus. Shang-Chi must constantly train himself in all of these aspects and more to keep himself in the position he is in.

Flaw: Honor
Shang-Chi is an honorable man and an honorable fighter. Escalation of battle does not happen without a good reason. Nor does the taking of an opponent's life. He is bound by a code of honor that does not waver and very rarely does he step outside of this honor code without true need.

Flaw: Mortality
Unlike his father, Shang-Chi is still a mortal. This allows him to suffer the same fates as any human being. He can be harmed by various powers and abilities of those beyond mortal being. He is capable of falling prey to drugs, intoxication and other like issues. He is also destined to age and eventually die. Wounds that he suffers can become infected or worse if not handled or treated properly.

In short, while he may be a master of martial arts, there are many other ways to hinder, harm or even eliminate Shang-Chi.

Flaw: Peace
Above all else, Shang-Chi seeks peace. He is on a continuous journey to find this. The same calm and tranquility that exists within him is also what he is searching for. This contradicts his nature as a warrior, sometimes, as he will try not to engage in combative situations and other violent acts in an effort to find this peace that he strives for.

Flaw: Ren
One of Shang-Chi's most prominent philosophies is something that he embodies as one. Commonly referred to as The Golden Rule; Do not do unto other what you would not have them to unto you. This, though, is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Shang-Chi's belief of this. He exhibits traits of altruisim and humaneness on a regular basis, living through goodness and compassion rather than darker emotions.

Flaw: Temptation
For someone that attempts to keep himself on the straight and narrow, focused on his own path, temptation is a greater thing. Everyone that is human has a moment of lapse or falters due to being imperfect. However, the risk of this is greater when one has been so focused on a particular set of ideals for so long. It takes a very strong man to be able to stand up to and defeat temptation every time.

Flaw: Tragic Love
Shang-Chi has a horrible habit of falling in love with women that are unattainable or dangerous or simply sabotaging his affairs due to his dedication to his art and his philosophy. It is likely in the cards that Shang-Chi will be alone forever. And while that may give him peace, he will not be complete. This he knows.
