Abilities
Power: Diamond Transformation (7)
The Stepford Cuckoos have recently gained to the ability to turn their bodies into an organic compound similar to a diamond. While still able to move as normal, the durability of their bodies become as hard as diamond and just as translucent. This transformation does not have to be their entire bodies and they can choose specific parts of their bodies to transform.
If they do change their heads or brains or entire bodies into diamond they loose their telepathic powers, but due to their unique connection they remained linked in their Psychic Gestalt. They are just unable to think "out" of their linked minds.
Power: Psychic Gestalt (8)
The Cuckoos's unique genetics and brain architecture allow them to merge their minds into a single psychic entity that vastly increases the power and complexity of their minds. While connected in such a way their minds become almost impossible to read or detected by other telepaths. They can still allow others to read or sense them but it becomes their choice.
When the Stepford Cuckoos are joined together in their psychic gestalt their thoughts are totally shared allowing for instantaneous communication with each other. Due to the nature of their gestalt mind this communication is usually undetectable.
The Cuckoos's are capable of keeping this gestalt together indefinitely, though powers or equipment that disrupt mental abilities would still be capable of breaking this link.
Power: Telepathy (5/9)
The true mutant power of the Five-In-One, is their ability to read and alter minds through Telepathy. They are remarkably skilled with this ability despite their young age. This is most likely due to the fact that they have been sensing and reading their own thoughts since birth. They have since developed the following tricks to use with their telepathy:
* Psychic Illusions - By controlling the brains impulses to the eyes, the Cuckoos can cause others to see what they wish them to see. * Mind Blast - Using their telepathic powers they are able to "blast" a targets mind with overloading stimuli causing pain and distraction. * Astral Projection - The Five-in-One have learned how to send their psychic consciousness to the Astral Plane, the dimension of pure thought. * Telepathic Tracking - By seeking out a specific set of brain-wave patterns the Cuckoos can find and keep track of the person who possesses it. * Borrowing Knowledge - The Cucckoos can reach out and borrow the mental skills from the mind of another allowing them to use them as their own while nearby.
(The first number of this power represents each of the Cuckoos power individually. When their powers are used together it increases by 1 for each of them involved in the Psychic Gestalt)
Skill: Brilliant (4)
The Cuckoos are for lack of a better word are brilliant. They are very intelligent and can sort out situations quicker and learn faster than the average person.
Skill: Mind For Language
Due to their telepathic abilities the Five-in-One have passively learned many of the languages they have been exposed to, allowing them to be conversationally fluent and literate in several languages.
Advantages
Advantage: Teacher's Pets
The Stepford Cuckoos are the prize pupils of the Academy of Tomorrow. The Headmistress of the Academy, Emma Frost has taken the quintuplets under her wing and have given them access to many of her resources, such as money and use of her private drivers.
Flaws
Flaw: Discordance
Despite the shared hive mind that the Cuckoos share, they also have recently begun developing individual personalities that cause them to come into conflict even while connected together. This conflict can disrupt the strength of their gestalt and allow the wishes of one of the five to take priority.
*Sophie - Independent and Noble. She is the voice for the other five and usually makes the decisions when there is a stalemate. *Phoebe - Aggressive and outgoing. She pushes for her way and the most likely to act differently than the other Five-in-One. *Irma - Artistic and kind. She is the most creative of the Five-in-One and helps drive the group to artistic achievement. *Celeste - Timid and passive. While she has the least influence inside the collective, the Cuckoos's secretive nature has much to do with her. *Esme - Cunning and manipulative. She is the most dissatisfied with the lot in life they have and pushes them to more.
Flaw: Little Morality
The Five-in-One don't have the context in order to really have any sort of human morality. As a result they seem very cold and distant to the plight of others and don't really understand the problem with using their telepathy in selfish ways to improve their own lot in life.
Flaw: Nanotech-Infected Bones
The Five-in-One are part of the Weapon Plus program, designed as a living weapon to use against the enemies of humanity. When they were cloned they were infected with nanites that allowed the program to be able to control them.
Through those nanites the Weapon Plus program can send them discrete orders or even recall them back to "The World" (the time flow changing research facility where they were born) to achieve their true goal of the Thousand-in-One.
The nanites in their bones are still technology: an EMP, a phase disruption, or the like can disrupt this connection, but not completely destroy it.
Even if disrupted, the Weapon Plus program stays within them, and can never be escaped. Though the orders given to them can be resisted, especially as the Cuckoos develop their individuality further as the strength of the orders from Weapon Plus is dependent on the Five-in-One's connection increasing the strength of the order five fold.
Flaw: Separation Anxiety
When the Cuckoos are unable to connect to each other they feel isolated and alone, sometimes even confused. They have become so accustomed to having the voices of their sisters in their heads that they find it disconcerting when they are forced to not share their thoughts together.
Flaw: Uncanny Valley
There is something off about the Cuckoos that nearly everyone who sees can feel. Firstly they are a set of teenage quintuplets who still dress the same and make no attempt to differentiate themselves from their sisters. Secondly, they often speak in perfect unison when they do choose to speak. And their speaking is a rarity in and of itself as they seem to stay near perfectly silence the majority of the time.
History[]
Unknown to the girls, they are a secret project to make super soldiers to use to protect humanity, specifically the United States. They are prototypes that either escaped or were released. It's not for certain because the Cuckoos themselves don't even know.
The Stepford Cuckoos don't know much about themselves or who they are. They know their names, they know they are mutants, they know they are sisters. Beyond that their past is just as much of a mystery to themselves as it is to others.
There first memories were of being on the Staten Island ferry heading to Metropolis. They didn't know how they got on the ferry and don't recall boarding it. All they knew was that they had to reach the Academy of Tomorrow which was just about to open. They arrived on the doorstep and the headmistress of the school so the potential in them and took them in.
Since then they have become model students at the school, though a bit isolated from their peers. But, the are never alone for they are the Five-in-One.

Academy of Tomorrow The school and home of the Stepford Cuckoos. They are the favorite students of Emma Frost but are considered "freaks" and "weirdos" by the student body. Things were especially estranged when they pulled a prank with their telepathy to make all of the school think that it was haunted and is now mostly hated. |
link={{{link}}} |
Emma Frost Once, Emma Frost was their mentor, their the ideal, their... everything. Then the discovered their purpose, and that changed everything. Emma was no longer their mentor, no longer their ideal... she was their mother. That would normally not be a big issue, if it wasn't for the fact that Sophie had a crush on... their mother. Since the revelation of their true nature, they view her more as their mother. And with no emotions, they view their mother as just someone who may be able to instill knowledge on them. If she has no knowledge to share, they do not care. Even in their non-emotional state they care about Emma Frost on an objective level, they see her as a person who is trying to improve the lot in life of hundreds of people. They however view her current plan as short-sighted, that her own telepathy could change everything. The Cuckoos are willing to do that, Ms. Frost won't. THe Cuckoos do not understand why she won't change the world |
link={{{link}}} |
Hope Summers Their sister. With her they are the Six-in-One, more powerful and perfect than they could have ever imagined for themselves. Without her they are her Lights. They love her more than they love anyone else besides themselves. She is their true confidant, and one the only person they are 100% comfortable around. Since their change, Hope has not been on their side. They do still care for her but in the same way they care for each other. She is part of their Psychic Gestalt, that is all that matters. |
link={{{link}}} |
Mindee They were once the Five-in-One. Then there was Hope Summers. The potential Six-in-One was introduced to a new person thanks to Fern. That person was Gabriel Togashi, or has they have learned to think of him/her... Mindee, the Seventh sister. They love her like they love Hope. |
link={{{link}}} |
Fantomex There so called older brother. They have only encountered him a few times. But he revealed to them their status as Weapon XIV, they would say they were grateful for that, but they have not felt a single emotion since. Instead they respect him for telling them what they wanted to know. |
link={{{link}}} |
Leo Luthor The FORMER prize student of Emma Frost and an extreme dorkus! Well sort of a dorkus. They don't dislike him as much as they used to. But they still harbor a small grudge because of his relationship with Fern Fiddlehead over their own sister Celeste. They have moved on, and they have revealed to him their own secrets. They do understand why he hates them, but they no longer care. |
link={{{link}}} |
Fern Fiddlehead The Cuckoos recently met one of their romantic rivals, Fern Fiddlehead. The problem became instead of hating her, they actually ended up liking her and thinking that she was a good person to know. |
link={{{link}}} |
Noh-Varr Kree Diplomat from another dimension. He has an interestingly complex mind that all of the girls find appealing. However they are dismayed by his desire for Emma Frost. He has recently become a teacher for the Academy of Tomorrow and they honestly cannot wait to spend more time with him and to learn from him. For some reason, they think he can help them understand themselves. Despite being one of their teachers, Phoebe has started a relationship with him. It is the first romantic entanglement that all of the sisters approved of. He's since left Earth, and honestly the Cuckoos no longer care for romantic entanglements. |
link={{{link}}} |
Roxie Darling The Cuckoos discovered her randomly on the streets one day and helped her fight off the aliens after her. They directed both her to Academy of Tomorrow and told Emma Frost of her existence. They are proud to believe that they helped make her more safe that day. The first real friend the cuckoos ever made. |
link={{{link}}} |
Megan Gwynn Her name is Megan Gwynn and that sort of rhymes so it's a win. The Five-in-One want to adopt her, well at least they want to dress that beautiful Pixie girl up and buy her clothing and put make up on her and make her their little Pixie doll. |
link={{{link}}} |
Charles Xavier They weren't as impressed with the most powerful telepath in the world as they expected to be. He could barely sense they were there, and his own thoughts were thoughts of fear rather than acceptance like they were expecting. |
link={{{link}}} |
Perrin One of the newer students of the Academy of Tomorrow. This Asgardian impresses them, but they have offended him some how. They honestly don't understand how it happened. They blame his anachronistic ways and there own protective nature on it. |
link={{{link}}} |
Yeweseisisel Yeweseisisel aka 157 is the Five-in-One's project. The infiltrator and observer is so very bad at one of those jobs. They wish to help him adapt better to human culture as they have. They can think of ways to fit in better than he can. They almost feel designed to do it. After all they are Fourteen. Whatever that means. |
link={{{link}}} |
Kurenai Kagemaru Former attendee of the Academy of Tomorrow who on the day she left became the girlfriend of Irma Cuckoo. The distance has made Irma a bit dispondant and less likely to assert her individuality among the the Five. |
link={{{link}}} |
Peter Parker They know Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Yet, Sophie doesn't care at all. His complex mind, his martyr complex, his creativity, his genius. For Sophie... that barely matters. He was the cute boy, with a mind better than even Emma's. And wow was he so pretty. Sophie isn't pursuing it yet. But when she does: Face it Petey, you hit the jackpot. With Peter, Sophie has to excert her personality the most. Both Phoebe and Celsete were attracted as well, but Sophie told them both to reign it in. Peter Parker is going to be Sophie's boy. |
